Olympus Lithium Ion Digital Camera Battery

Strengths: Li-Ion technology, good weight/hour of operation ratio.

Weakness: Price.

Like many other camera manufacturers, Olympus ties you to their own specific battery models. This one would cost you around $60, and isn't any different than other Li-Ion battery models out there, as far I can judge.
The good news is that you can get a generic duplicate for as low as $11. I own both, and they do serve the same function. The generic one may 'die younger' eventually, but probably not 6 times younger!

I agree, I bought an oly c8080 about a year ago and soon after I went looking for a spare battery. I found a generic for $14 and actually bought 2 since with shipping and handling it was cheaper to buy 2. I've only had to put one in service so far and I can't tell the difference from the "$60" oly.

Genuine Olympus BLM-01 battery pack

Strengths: Made in Japan, Genuine Olympus, takes many shots before draining.

Weakness: Long charging time

Genuine Olympus battery. If you want to get maximum out of your battery purchase only genuine battery pack. After market replacement batteries sometimes are fakes, using them you void camera warranty, risk of not being able to use the battery for as many shots. I use it with Olympus E330. Simply read reviews of technical testing and you'll see. I wanted the best and got this one as a spare. Would not settle for anything else but genuine battery. I use same principle for my Canon SD850.

Olympus, O price

Weakness: pricy

Got it from amazon for my Olympus E-500 dSLR. After charging, it works just fine: I can shoot about 600 pictures with 30% times flash on. The big problem for it or, more accurate, for Olympus accessories, is, Price.

However, I still do not want to use generic ones, since the camera is far more expensive!!

Straight Forward Digital Camera Battery

Strengths: Good quality, will work since it is OEM, holds a long charge, low on overall weight

Weakness: Cost is high

I got this so I could have a second battery for the E-Volt E-500 so that I would always have power when shooting. The battery lasts a surprisingly long time on a charge. The weight of the battery is low, and can easily slip into a pocket. The only downside to this battery is the high cost. You can get secondary items for much cheaper, but the quality is always suspect.

Olympus Lithium Ion Digital Camera Battery

Strengths: Original OEM Olympus battery, so you're guaranteed compatibility. I bought it as an extra battery--always a must. Comes with protective plastic backing to protect the battery while it's in storage.

Weakness: Morbidly expensive. Purchased at Ultimate Electronics (where the regular price was $105). If not for the 70% liquidation discount, there was no way that I would have made this purchase.

I bought this battery as an additional battery for my Olympus C-8080, which I spent $450 on. Maybe this is just personal preference, but I just don't trust generic batteries on such an expensive investment. So for me, it was worth the price I paid. Unfortunately, the prices for this battery are normally sky high--so shop around!!
