Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Crisp picture quality, good fit in hand, digital viewfinder, amazing zoom, movies with sound

Weakness: Not enough manual control and difficult to focus in low light

The FinePix 3800 has served me very well in most all aspects. It's a good all around camera, but for the price I would have liked more manual control. Pictures taken without a tripod in low light conditions usually turn out blurry.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: 6X zoom, uses AA batteries, easy point and shoot

Weakness: It is hard for me to find the screen to change the pixel count, every time I do it I have to scratch my head. It is quite simple though, I just forget because it is at a different place than others.

We have taken literally 1000's of pictures with camera. I would have rated it the highest but I have too little experience with other digital cameras. My two teenage girls went to Europe this summer for a month with relatives and took the camera. With a 256MB xD card they never needed to change it. The battery life is good but you need batteries if you plan to shoot a lot.

I have only used the automatic settings on the camera and find they produce fine photos. I blow up to 8 by 10 and it is very good. Like a film camera nice diffuse light (eg a cloudy day) will produce the best result.

Ease of operation. Several people have used this camera successfully.

The benefit of the 6x can not be overstated. It's like having a 228mm lens (remember those 10 inch things on a SLR?) It's great for sports and getting close when you aren't.

I do a lot of editing and I plan to move up to a Fuji E550 so I can blow up even greatly cropped images. I will pay about $50 more over the Olympus C60 which also uses xD but I am sold on the quality of my 3800

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: 6x optical zoom,large LCD screen,price

Weakness: Terrible in low light situations

Researched for a month before deciding on this camera and could'nt find anything in this price range with the combination of the 6x optical zoom and the 1.8 LCD. Paid $288.00 at 6th ave electronics.I was trying to take a picture of my dog at night in a room with three lamps on and was unable to see anything in the EVF. I called Fuji and was told I am limited by a 100 iso which makes it almost impossible to see anything thru the viewfinder so I'm always guessing where my subject is but in spite of that the pictures always come out great. Just make sure the flash is on. Takes beautiful pics in a sunny room or outdoors. While my daughter was visiting the other night I tried out the movie mode while she was attempting to play the piano. It was one of those Kodak moments and again even though there were three lamps and a piano lamp on right in front of her the playback was very dark. That was very disappointing. All and all I've had great fun with my Fuji and love looking at the memories on my pc. Guess I'll be buying some more lamps...

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: The looks, the weight, the xd card capacity, and the zoom!

Weakness: Even after repeated readings of the manual it is quite hard to take low light pictures, and moving objects. Shuttler speed is so slow you can push the button then walk around and capture yourself.

I am in the computer field, and after a lot of research on the internet, and visiting stores to physically try several cameras I chose this one. The 6X optical zoom was the main selling point. I purchased this camera when it was still $399 about 10 months ago. I was pleased with the zoom, look, feel, and quality of pictures. I have impressed friends and family with pictures taken that printed from my printer in 8X10 size that were photo lab quality. I have the 16mb xd card, a 64mb card (that came as an free bonus upon purchase), and I purchase an 128mb card too! After a few months I stopped taking the 3m pictures, and started taking 1 to 2 m shots. The quality is excellent on all of them, and the majority of pictures you are not going to print and 1meg shots look great on your computer. My complaints are that even if you use the sports shot, or play with the speed in manual mode, you have to improvise more than a no fingered man at a piano playing contest. Low light conditions for this camera are places that are not considered low light to anyone except maybe a blind person. Anywhere indoors that isn't lit by anything less than a flood light, you will have problems. You can take excellent night shots by guessing where your subject is, or by using a tripod in the nightshot mode. If I had it to do all over again, I would not buy this camera (not for $399). I am satisfied (since I already have it), and have learned how to adjust to the quirks that I have mentioned.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Easy to use and takes great pictures

Weakness: Distinguishing + and - for proper battery placement. Better written instructions for downloading into computer.

I've had this camera for over 1 year. I have found it easy to use and the pictures have turned out better than expected. I've taken pictures from my airplane through the windshield and from the sides and they come out great. I initially was confused by the directions for downloading the pictures into my computer using the FujiFilm software, so now I download using Windows XP.
A little clearer instructions would help. Also you almost need a magnifying glass to read the lettering for proper placement of your batteries.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: great zoom lens, easy auto mode, will soon be outmoded by 4/3 cameras, a great advasnced amateur camera at present state of the art until 4/3 format becomes common, xD cards are now competitive.

Weakness: will not take higher power flash except Vivitar slave run flash.

again great interim piece until 4/3 is THE New Format replacing 35m, Polaroid and interim stuff. at that point I go to 4/3 and the 3800 becomes one HELLUVA HAND ME DOWN!!!!!

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: very good zoom lens (x6 optical)

Weakness: mostly point and shoot camera. I think that thier propriatary XD cards are more expencive than SD or CF cards. Its a very large camera compared to its rivals mostly because of the lens.

Its an older model. A newer model of the same configuration is the 3000.

Pros: very good zoom lens (x6 optical) main seller and good quality images. The price for what you get is very good but if you don't need the zoom that think more about the Canon a70 or the smaller fuji models. for the same price. If Zoom is what you want then you should be looking at an
Olympus
740/750 with a 10x optical zoom and very good feature lists.

Cons: mostly point and shoot camera. I think that their proprietary XD cards are more expensive than SD or CF cards. Its a very large camera compared to its rivals mostly because of the lens.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Great value for money! Excellent for amateur photography. Nice Color & fabulous looking body!

Weakness: Very slow shutter speed, difficult to take pictures in night, batteries that come along with the camera are not good enough.

This is an excellent camera for beginners, and auto focus makes it easy to handle. Not too many manual settings, so much so, that my husband has finally taken to photography!!
The output is nice color & quality. It is light to carry around and the look beats most others out! Wish they had a little faster shutter speed and better night focus.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: 6X Zoom, image quality, price

Weakness: Can be hard to get low light shots, but it's not impossible.

After using this camera for nearly a year I am very satisfied. The image quality is very good, and I make 8x10s on a regular bases that amaze people. Action photography is possible, and works well if you know how to use the auto focus lock (read the manual). Low light photography is also doable if you practice a little. Night images require that you use the "Night" mode (again, read the manual).

For the price I don't think you can beat this camera for features, dependablity, versatility, or image quality. If your looking for a 3mp point and shoot camera that can be stretched to function as a pro-sumer camera on occasion, this is the one for you.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Great color saturation, crisp images, ease of operation, good placement of controls.

Weakness: Poor low light performance.

I have used this camera since 12/02 and have taken approx. 1200 photos with it. It has great optics, a smooth 6x zoom with crisp and sharp images. Color is excellent, very close to film. I like the included lens barrel which enables the use of screw on 55 mm filters. The program modes work very well. It has enough manual controls to be versatile without being too complicated. This camera is very sturdy and dependable with no noticeable body creak. The XD memory cards are fast and dependable. Battery life is average. This camera does not perform well in low light. Its equivalent ISO 100 rating makes it slow. Low light AF performance is poor. Overall, I am very pleased with this camera, I just wish it performed better in low light.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: User friendly.Dependable.Awesome pictures. Many features, like audio with video mode. Many cameras in that price range didn't have audio.Nice zoom range.

Weakness: Lens cap falls off of the shroud that comes with the camera. The batteries that come with the camera are nice for starters, but you should upgrade to a set of NI MH.Excellent batteries.

I would buy another one if I ever have to.This camera is very dependable. No problems what so ever.Don't screw the shroud too tight because when the lens is retracted it makes it impossible to take off, only when the lens is all the way extended can you take it off.I get compliments all the time on how great my photos turn out.If interested in looking at photos from my Finepix,go to: members.photofun.com/d... ,and you be the judge.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: great lens, zoom, picture quality, full sound support (memo, video) - great hardware and good price

Weakness: Bad firmware - autofocus not working in low light, no manual focus, no posibility to focus night scenes, no focus to infinity! - , no support for panorama, "serie" with only two shots, max exp. time 0.5s

Simply - do not buy this camera if you want to joy from digital photo. The problem with focus has no solution in more situations, especially if you want to get snap with flash inside or if you want to take a night foto (city panorama, etc.). No patch for it, no support (this is "feature" of the camera).

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Lightweight, excellent color/picture quality, long zoom range, plug n play with Mac excellent, long battery life, many photo modes.

Weakness: Low light focus not great, recommended lens adapter makes the camera harder to pocket.

I chose this camera because of great experience with another Fuji camera. I went on the Web, through PriceGrabber, and compared about a dozen e-tailer offerings. In the end, I ordered camera and extra storage from Electric Sam. I got immediate email feedback, and within a few minutes, a sales support phone call. The outcome was excellent, adjusting my order to exactly what I wanted. This has to be the way to go - the convenience and choice of the Internet, and expert human sales consultancy. I ended up with a better extended warranty (not offered on Web) and great wide-angle converter, plus some freebies. Thanks to Electric Sam.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Great pictures, and plenty of flexibility.

Weakness: Card reader is outrageously expensive (about $60)and the new computers that have built in card readers do not include xd card readers.

I've had this camera long enough to have used it a lot, and
its great. The colors and details are fine, and 8 1/2 x 11 prints look terrific.

A note on the loose lens cap issue: I called Fuji about it, and they replaced it for free with one that stays very snug with or without the exention cap. If you're having a problem with yours, its definatly worth a call to them.

I also got a Ray-O-Vac camera starter kit. The camera fits into the bag perfectly with just enough room for my battery charger.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Very easy to learn and use, most modes are very self-explanatory, and even the auto mode takes excellent pictures. Pictures print beautifully and the sport mode takes great fast-action shots.

Weakness: I wish this had a manual focus capability, as it would help with low light situations. The "digital shutter lag" makes action pictures harder to take, but with some practice they are possible.

When we decided to purchase a digital camera we examined what was available at our local bestbuy, and for the price ($399.99) and the capabilities (6x optical zoom, 3x digital zoom, 3.2 megapixels) no other camera could touch it. The Fujinon lenses are excellent and the zoom is clean and easily accessible without moving the camera. It takes excellent pictures, and is easy to use even if you are not tech-savvy. I am an intermediate-advanced photgrapher and it has enough features to make me happy and allow me creative flexibility in almost any situation. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a digital camera.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Great zoom, very good memory storage capacity, true to life pictures, long battery life, and simple video capabilites.

Weakness: Slow shutter speed leads to blurred photos.

We broke down and bought this camera after developing our Grand Canyon pictures, which were horrible! Bought it from Wolf Camera, where the salesperson was very helpful in explaining all of the features. The camera has an excellent zoom, and by decreasing the image size (I don't need my pictures to be 8x10's) we are able to hold 30-40 pictures on our 64mB card. Had to learn to adjust the shutterspeed. All of my photos were coming out blurred at first. I would definetly recommend spending a little extra money for the FinePix Image Memory Card Reader, which allows for very quick upload of pics from the camera to the computer (saves camera batteries too!). The video is rough, but saves to a surprisingly small file. My only problem with it was that I had a hard time with the camera software putting the software company name on top of my videos. Overall, I've been very pleased.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Everything! Great zoom and great images, very easy to use, comfortable and lots of options.

Weakness: Absolutely nothing! I haven't needed to use any manual settings, so I don't know how they work, but so far they haven't been needed. Definetly not a weakness in my eyes, but wanted to mention it.

This camera is awesome! You do have to read a couple pages in the manual to get a full understanding, but it is worth the 5 minutes. Once you understand how to use the camera you can't take a bad picture. You can even add a telephoto lens as an attachement for longer shots.

I added 256mb and can take over 400 3MP shots on the 3MP normal, if you want you can go to 3MP fine and get half the shots, but I couldn't tell a difference in quality.

Battery use is great. I pulled the batteries (rechargable are recommended and worth it!) out of the box (without charging them) and used the camera for an afternoon without ever running out of batteries! I bought the case and rechargable batteries in a package for around $40.

If you want a camera that's easy to use and gets great results, I would highly recommend this one! Only down side was the cost, $399 at best buy, comes with 16mb and 32mb memory. But after seeing the end result it is worth it!

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Excellent picture quality and ease of use

Weakness: cant delete pictures unless in the playback mode or when downloading to the computer

I bought this camera on my way out of town to attend the Rose festival in Portland, Oregon. The camera was easy to use and took superb pictures of the bands and floats even when they were moving (I used the sports scene mode). In the macro mode the flowers seemed to be almost real.
I purchased the 64 meg memory card and would recommend this to everyone as it gives you more freedom to take pictures that you may delete later and not worry about running out of memory. At this point I havent found any deficencies in the camera and would purchase it again. I simply love it.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Great pictures right out of the box. Exposures are better than expected, with good balance between shadow and bright light. Great detail in the shadow areas. Beautiful color. The 6X zoom is great!

Weakness: No remote, no panorama mode. Positive features outweigh the above by a long shot!

I have noted that other ratings have stated that the lens cap is loose and falls off. Fuji must have improved it because it is not a problem with mine. Low light focusing seems to work fine also. As I stated above, perhaps the latest production models have been improved. Reading the user manual might help those who have had problems. I would definitely recommend this camera to new users and advanced amatures as well.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: This 3.2 megapixel camera has good clear pictures and has easy software installation. Extremely easy to use, the bigger the memory card the more video there is.

Weakness: Slightly slow shutter speed but that's what to expect when purchasing a digital camera.

Overall this has been a great buy for the family. The camera has basically no flaws and would be a great camera for you to purchase. This camera can also be used as a video camera with sound and high quality images.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Takes excellent pictures when it works

Weakness: Slow shutter speed

I received this camera as a christmas gift in 2002 and it has been a big headache. The first one that I had lasted a few months then one day I turned it on and it made a noise like it was zooming in and out and that was all it would do. The store replaced the first camera, but the second one didn't last much longer. The switch is loose and when I try to turn the camera on it either doesn't do anything or it does the same thing that the first one did. To top it all off the store won't replace it, they said they will TRY to fix it. I would not recommend buying this camera and I doubt that I will ever buy another Fuji camera.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: price (when it was $300), shutter speed, features, ease of use, easy transfer of files to PC (recognized instantly as a new drive), battery life (w/rechareable NiMH's)

Weakness: picture naming format: when you transfer your pics to your PC, the next set of pictures get the same name, you can't automatically dump them into the same folder. Movie format is only 60s increments

The first thing I would recommend to anyone buying this camera is to go out to walmart or wherever before hand, and buy a 4-pack of NiMH batteries and the $10 charger. It'll save you a lot in the cost of batteries.

This is an AWESOME camera. However it was only $300 (plus $16 shipping) back when I purchased it, I wonder why the price jumped up? But anyways I only have complaints about the weaknesses mentioned above. They're more of annoyances. However it would be ideal if the limit on the length of your movies was the size of your card.

The camera is very easy to use, my wife and I were beginners to cameras when we purchased this, and after reading the manual over once (or just looking specifically in there for what you want to do) mastering all the advanced settings on the camera is a breeze. It's not even really all that advanced just basically common sense once you know it. No problems with the lens cap either, stays onto the adaptor ring just fine (which I always leave on as the recommended), or onto the camera without the adaptor ring. The 6x optical zoom is awesome, and you won't find it on any other camera, at least not for what's listed here at pricegrabber. Also you might want to look at the finepix 2800 if you want to save a couple of bucks, because I haven't yet needed to go above the 2MP setting, we just figured that since we're investing a lot of money in something like a digital camera, might as well pay a little more for the extra mexapixel.

Weakness: I find the manul features a bit dificult to use.

To much fidling around using the manual features to get what I want. I am disapointed in this camera, it is my first digital camera, I did a lot of research and thought this was the best one for me, maybe not, it takes me to long to find the manual setting I need to take the best picture I can. The manual that comes with it lacks details in using the manual features. Would I buy it again, NO.........

Fuji Finepix 3800

Strengths: Takes very good quality pix of well lit, non-moving objects.

Weakness: Very difficult to capture moving objects. Does not work well in dimly lit areas.

I have had my 3800 for about three years now, and it has ceased to work. I contacted Fuji America about this and was told to send it to them and they would see what they could do. I did not. I have read in other reviews that this camera has an inherant life span of about 2 yrs. Then for unknown reasons it dies. It did work decently when operable, however. I would be reluctant about purchasing another Fuji camera again.

Weakness: hard to focus in the dark, I wish it had more of a metal feel to it, but then it would probably weight a lot more

In the past 3 months because I have been asked to buy a camera for my job -money no object-, bought a camera as a gift for a relative, very picky relative I might add, was asked to buy a camera for a friend's birthday, when it came time to buy my own camera I knew what I wanted, I bought the Finepix 3800 and I have taken some very nice shots with this cameral.
I am very happy with it, it is not the most compact camera, but, the cameras that I bought for other people were compact and they lacked the features that the Finepix has, so I am happy I waited to buy mine last. I paid $250.00

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Very easy to use point-and-shoot camera. Outstanding battery life when compared with other digital cameras that I have used. Attractive price and convenience features. Very good color.

Weakness: Dismal "manual" autofocus system. Needs too much light on subject to focus. Very troublesome to use in some normal indoor lighting situations. Closeup performance is average.

Being a Nikon CoolPix 800 user has apparently spoiled me. I am not overly pleased with the Fuji even though I paid about $150. less for it than for the Nikon. The Fuji is very easy to use for snapshots, especially outdoors. Indoor shooting is another matter entirely. I photograph a lot of "objects" indoors. Both the autofocus range and sensitivity seem poor and I frequently have to aim a flashlight or floodlamp at the subject in order to get the camera to focus under normal room lighting conditions. I never had such problems with the Nikon, which also offers many more manual features and a continuous autofocus system. Still, the Fuji 3800 is fun to use. The EVF is no problem for me to use and the design of the body makes holding it a pleasure. I wish that the LCD screen had a little more resolution but it's not a problem once I got used to the fact that the actual picture was going to look a lot better. I think that the Fuji 3800 is a very good camera for the money.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

I tried to buy this camera from three other on line stores. I would be glad
to tell who they were also. They lied to me and all their advertising was
false just to get me in and try to sell much more. I couldn't even buy the
camera by itself from them. The prices were the same or within a few dollars less. Thank you for your honesty and fair pricing.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Menus are easy to understand, 6X optical zoom is flawless, easy to hold, even with large hands, has tripod fitting on bottom, good battery life, great quality pictures.

Weakness: Terrible lens cap, no low light focusing aid, poor movie quality

Overall, this is a wonderful camera which looks real cool too. This was my first digicam, and it honestly has more features than I will ever use. I'm fine with the AUTO feature. For an intermediate photographer, this would probably be a great choice. The 6X optical zoom works great, the menus are easy to navigate through, the movie mode is not great quality, but decent enough for occasional use. A manual focus feature would be helpful. With low light, the autofocus won't work. You just need to aim at something with some light, press the shutter down half way, allow it to focus, then aim back at your subject and shoot. Lots of flash modes to play around with. I've read people complain about the lens cap. It stays on fine, ONLY if you don't use the adapter ring. If the adapter ring is installed, the cap is useless. Quick fix here: go buy a standard 55mm black lens cap for $2. It stays on the adapter ring beautifully. And if you read the directions, it says to keep the adapter ring installed anyway, to protect the lens. I hear it's hard to find a decent camera case for this model, as it's kinda weirdly shaped. But I purchased a leather camera case from Quantaray, model #2072. Camera fits nicely into this bag. Cost about $30. f you want a cam just for email picture sending, you don't need this one. But if you ever want to print pictures, this will do great 6X8 prints shot at full resolution.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Ease of use - Great pictures, stunning detail in high quality mode - Easy on batteries - Excellent overall value

Weakness: None that I can see. I did not experience the loose lens cap everybody complains about.

I am a typical point and shoot user who will seldom if ever venture past the full auto mode, and for my purpose it's just about perfect.
I paid $299 (including shipping) for mine, so it's in the price range of one of the better point and shoots, and it's got those beat by a mile.
Better optics, the thrill of seeing your pictures right away on the LCD screen or on a computer monitor, plus the ability to send them over the internet brings a whole new dimension to picture taking.
Be ready to spend an extra $100 or so on a bigger memory card and a battery charger, but on the bright side, you'll never have to buy another roll of film
The 128 mb card ($75) will store hundreds of pictures depending on the resolution. A battery charger with 2 sets of rechargeable batteries ($40) means you'll never have to worry about running out of power.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Outstanding value, takes great pictures and is very easy to use.

Weakness: None

I purchased this camera as an upgrade from a previous digital camera. I did a lot of research based upon camera features and overall value. This camera tops them all with 6x optical zoom and 3.2 megapixel. The camera is very easy to use and takes great pictures. The new WD memory works just fine.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: 6X Optical Zoom! Ease of Use, Features for the Price, Image Quality

Weakness: No RCA Out, Low Light Focus (can be gotten around)

I like this camera so much, I bought it twice! My first one was stolen 1 week after purchase, so I bought it again. My brother liked it so much, he bought one too.

I did a lot of research before my purchase, and determined that it would be the best camera in the price range. I find this camera very easy to use, even with very large hands. The interface is pretty straightforward. The 16MB card is too small, but I purchased a couple of 32MB cards, and have plenty of room now.

I have had the same low-light problems as everyone else, but they can be gotten around, the red eye flash setting helps in low light.

Image quality is very good, the zoom is great for the price and the colors are vibrant.

Be sure that you spend time with the different lighting settings, and get comfortable with what they do in different situations. It makes a great difference in the final product. Also get comfortable with the "typical" digital camera shutter lag. Once I took several pics, I learned how to "lead" my shots, and get the shot I want.

One more item of note: The first camera, had the flimsy, loose lens cap that kept falling off. But the new one, while appearing to be of the same design, is nice and snug on both the lens and the addapter! A very nice change from the first one.

All in all, a great camera for the money. Highly Recommended!

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Many great features for a point and click digital camera

Weakness: the accompanying software is next to useless

I had been doing a lot of research on a simple, good quality digital camera that would be "almost" as versatile as my Minolta SLR 35mm camera. The Fugi fit the ticket nicely. The glass lens is outstanding for an under $400.00 camera, 35mm or Digital. The 6x optical zoom works seamlessly and the viewfinder is exceptional. The other cameras I looked at in the price range, including the HP and Sony love eating batteries. The Fuji FinePix is frugal and since you can choose to use either the digital viewfinder or the larger LCD display, batteries last a long time. In fact, I've taken 200 pictures on some Energizer bunny batteries, and it's still going. You won't go wrong with this camera.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: The ability to add various lens to it. The 6 times optical zoom.

Weakness: No rca out to tv jack.

I have noticed that people complained that they can't get the Auto Focus to work inside. I think that these people simply didn't read the manual. I had no trouble taking pictures indoors and in low light. You have to use the flash but that should be obvious and if you push down halfway on the shutter button while focusing on a light source (a candle will work or a Christmas tree light bulb) you will get the AF to work. While holding down the button move the camera to where you want to take the pic and push down all the way. Wallah takes a great picture and it really is not that terrible to have to occasionally do this. Come on people RTFM before you start griping about how bad it is.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: 6x optical zoom, Logical cntrls, Good low light shots when used w/ a tripod, 55mm lens adapter w/ telephoto & wide angle adapters, perfect size. Odd shape but fuji does make a leather case for it.

Weakness: Needs a better lens cap. Loose after 1 day of use. No Ext Flash Synch, No remote. Wide angle lens only during video mode. Odd shape=no aftermarket form fitting case. Flash is not fully automatic.

Decent camera but would have preferred some basic changes like lens cap improvements, or a better flash setup. I do like the added benefits that the 55mm lens adapter provides (telephoto lens, wide angle lens, various filters, etc.)

Also like the ergonomics. Not sure how good it would be for someone with large fingers though.

As already mentioned, would have prefered and external sync.

Should have come with the 5vDC AC adapter that fuji sells.

Would be nice if the flash automatcially popped up when needed versus a manual button only.

Overall, though, I'm very happy with it.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Excellent picture quality when focus is possible. Excellent software. Relatively easy to use.

Weakness: No shutter priority. No manual focus capability. Auto focus stops working even under the indoor, medium illumination. Lens cap poorly built, falls off all the time.

Biggest problem: When indoor, under low/medium light, Auto Focus does not work any more, unless first identifying a bright object to do FOCUS LOCK. But this may not be possible at all times. Would not dare to take with me to travel because I may not be able to take low light pictures. Coupling this with the lack of support for manual focus, things are just impossible.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Ease of use. Cool look and feel. Great beginners camera. Very good pictures

Weakness: Lens cap is worthless. Red Eye reduction doesn't work very well. Most night pictures with the flash show red eye.

My first digital camera and I am hooked. It is way cool and fairly easy to use. It could use a few more features but is good none the less. I was really disappointe with the red eye reduction. It doesn't really work and I have yet to find a camera that lives up to the claims of their red eye reduction. The shutter is also a litte slow so it is hard to get the good shot of my 2 year old who is always on the move and doesn't stay still for too long. However if I use the sport mode it seems to help get good pictures of moving toddlers without being blurry. Highly recommend this camera.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Excellent quality in low light IF you use a tripod. Good power saving features. Easy to access USB port on outside of camera, instead of hidden behind a door.

Weakness: Blurry images will result in most any type of (low) lighting. Autofocus does not lock in half of the time, and there is no manual focus.

This camera has a difficult time with indoor lighting, low-lighting, and nighttime shots. Even under good incandescent lighting this camera will blur your subject when the camera is handheld. The autofocus is also affected by it's weak light gathering capabilities, and can be very frustrating to work with since there is no manual focus. This means you must move to a distance of 6.6 feet or more, to take advantage of the camera's infinite focus range.

When used on a tripod, the camera will produce sharp, well lit images, which you would not be able to take by hand.

A few reviewers noted that the lense cap is loose. But, they failed to mention that it stays on. Loose meaning it swivels freely while attached to the camera, but it stays on just as firmly as any lens cap.

Timed shutter releases require clicking around on two separate buttons on the camera, each time you want to set up a shot. And once again, you cannot lock the focus prior to a timed shutter release, because the camera has no manual focus. Yes the Autofocus does have a lock feature, but it won't work if your finger isn't on the button.

The blockyness of the camera is an issue, and makes it difficult to pocket, pack and handle. Do not attempt to carry this camera without wearing the camera strap!

The software included with the camera requires ejection of your USB device (camera) each time you disconnect from the computer. The web cam software is useless.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Very good quality pictures, both normal and macro. Zoom is great! Even some low light shots are better than good.

Weakness: No raw format. Odd shaped, hard to find the "perfect" case. No audio/vid out.

I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Great camera in the price range. Buy some rechargeable batteries and a charger, and get a bigger "XD" card, ad this only comes w/ 16 MB

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Easy to use

Weakness: Loose lens cap, and awkward shape (square) makes it hard to find a small (compact) case to fit it.

I haven't printed any pictures yet, but I'm disappointed with what I see on my computer screen. Although the viewfinder shows bright, sharp images, the 'true' image is usually considerable darker. And, with the flash, the images are extremely harsh. Plus, even after one day, I seem to be getting an intermittent problem with the zoom. It will just stop working for no reason. I have to turn off, then on, the camera to get the zoom to start working again. It doesn't just happen (as other suggest) while a picture is being stored. I might have to take the camera in for repair if this continues.

Strengths: I like the SLR look.Takes great pictures (I use the night scene mode for daylight pics).Seems to be easy on batteries.Just the right amount of manual modes for me.Very easy to take good pics.

Weakness: Lens cap loose.Comes off very easy.No Video out to TV.No tiff mode.

I have owned several digital cameras and the only one that i like as well is the fuji mx-700 believe it or not.I hope the price of the optional lenses and filters come down in price.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: easy to use right out of the box, easy software installation, easy use of software, nice design on the camera to grip, very light in weight (atleast to me), great features, great camera for the money.

Weakness: hard to see objects in the lcd and the evf in low lighting but the cameras awesomeness overrides that problem.

all in all the camera is just great. i really cannot ask for a better camera for the money. this was my first digital camera i have owned and it just plain rocks!!!! i did a lot of research on this camera and didn't have the luxury of a product review but reviewed the fuji 2800 and that camera had good ratings so i ordered this camera kinda blind and love it.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: This camera has the most features for the best price of any digital camera that I have researched.

Weakness: The Electric View Finder (EVF) does have its problems with low light but the camera still takes great pictures with low light.

I received the camera 2 days ago and have been highly impressed with the Fuji Finepix 3800. It was simple to use out of the box, and after an hour of familiarization with the manual the simplicity and versatility of the camera were made evident. Great Camera!

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Very fast XD Picture Card allows for a very fast camera througout It uses regular batteries, and uses them very sparingly. Respectable amount of manual control available.

Weakness: No TV out. But my PC display is larger than my TV, so who cares....

Please read all the reviews on the 2800, because all the good things are still the same and has been said many times. The problem with the displays at low light seems to be improved with the 3800, as I cannot find it a big problem. If you yank up the intensity with the appropriate menu it is quite OK now! Low light focusing is still a problem, but it is usually enough to lock focus on a bright spot in the picture and then recompose.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Ease of use, exceptional zoom.

Weakness: None noted.

I've used the FujiFilm 2650 in the past, and this is the best yet! User friendly, meets the needs of amateur to wannabe photographer. It is a lot of camera for a reasonable price. Pictures are clear and easy to see in the display. I love the pop-up flash! This is, by far, the best camera I've used.

Fujifilm FinePix 3800 3.2 Megapixel Bridge Camera

Strengths: Amazing quality under a variety of conditions. esay to use, a great camera

Weakness: no video out, no time lapse and only 2 images for the multi frame mode, no remote available.

This is my 4th digital camera and the one I am most happy with. There are a couple of what I thought were basic features that this doesn't have, but it more than makes up for it with its variety of features. It accepts lenses out of the box, making it a great hobbist camera, but is simple enough to use that anyone can take great pictures with it, without reading the manual or getting into its advanced features. The software that comes with it is simple to use, but it is just as easy to hook up to the computer via usb and treat as another drive. I have consistently gotten better pictures out of this than a more expensive 4 megapixel camera which it replaced. The autofocus is smooth. acurate and fast. The 6x optical zoom is blazingly fast and clear.
The only real downside is that it lacks a rca out, so it cannot be hooked directly up to a tv, which is a great feature during the holidays. The software does make an easy to navigate VCD, but it doesn't play in all dvd players.

Strengths: easy to use, Love the digital zoom. Very user friendly, and allot of camera for the Dollar. Excellent picture quality, when printed 8 x 10's.

Weakness: LCD screen hard to see under dark conditions, but really doesn't get in the way of the excellent pictures.

Excellent Camera for the price. Very easy to use, and takes excellent pictures. I'm a first time user of digital cameras, and this was an excellent choice for me. The 3.2 MegaPixel, and the 6X digital zoom make this a wonderful choice.
