Nikon Coolpix P80 Positives & Issues
Strengths: Great zoom....18X, Wide angle, Simple controls, Fantastic 2.7'' Display, Great grip, easy to use, Fantastic picture quality, Very good video quality
Weakness: Making noice in Sports mode, Taking more than 2.5 sec for the first shot, no remote control, looks more plastic, no raw file support, battery life is average.
I have bought this Coolpix P80 with the brand Nikon in mind. This a great camera with SLR feeling. I love this camera because of the picture quality. Sports mode it is taking 13 shots/sec..!!!, but it is making lot of noise that is sort of disturbing. Auto focus is sort of hunting & so it is making sound I guess. But in video recording the clicking sound is really bad. The flash is manual control, not popping up automatically(It is an advantage sometimes). I would like to have a remote control like Sony H9, hopefully Nikon will have this in future models. I have compared this with SP570, Cannon S5, Sony H9 - it is amazing. I love the camera. Novice can use this camera as well as Professional photographer can use this camera for better quality pictures. I will recommend this camera for sure.......

P80 is a great camera
Strengths: - 18x Zoom, 10.2 MP, quick start
Weakness: none,everything +Ve
P80 is a wonderful camera with a great zoom and picture quality, I bought this despite some negative remarks on this product by trusting Nikon, I had Nikon S50 before.
Once you buy this camera, you need to go through the manual and there you can see all the solutions for the people who wrote negative remarks. I guess out of 100 purchases’ only 5 or 6 guys wrote a -ve review who did not look into detail remaining 95 owners are happy and smiling at those reviews.
It has detailed picturization for indoor, outdoor, beach, snow, fireworks etc tons of features.
This is a great buy.
Hope this helps.

Weakness: Needs a Better Lens Cap
I purchased this cmaera for my wife we acctually went through several of the nikon and canon compact cameras which had issues of either size or Image quality

Sports mode
Strengths: Awesome quality of photos with its colors
Weakness: Vivration of Sports mode
After two days, I found something wrong with this camera.
I tested several options. Then I started testing some actions with sports mode.
Then my hand which holding the camera felt some vivration & dull & sporadic sounds. I returned it to the Best Buy & the techentian checked & I got fully refunded. I realized that I purchased it because of the reputation of the Nikon. It was my fault not to take tests beforehand.

NIKON P80
Strengths: Great digital picture quality. Easy to use High resolution picture quality up to max zoom - I take pictures of the moon that turn out grea. The panorama assist feature is great!
Weakness: Nikon Download software - could be better if you added photo modifications
This is the best camera I have founds for the money. The picture quality and easy of use make it a perfect camera. This camera can make all the pictures you take look professtional. It's panorama assist makes 360 pictures easy and fun.

Nikon P80
Strengths: Love how easy it is to switch between functions
Weakness: seems flimsy for the $
I have always enjoyed my Nikon Cameras. I also have an N50 that I have used for more years than I want to remember but I prefer not to wait for film to be developed but will if I need to use it. I originally looked into the D40 but decided that I wanted to be able to have a real life view of the picture I was taking rather than using an eye piece. I find the P80 very easy to use and the stabalization works well when using the telephoto until you get into the last few feet of the maximum distance. All and all I am glad I went with it. The only real down side that I see is that it appears to be constructed of plastic rather than a metal casing that I am used too, however, this does cut down on the weight of it. This is an exceptional camera for those of us that like it to be easy and if we want it to be a little more difficult, we have that option.

Nikon Coolpix P80
THE GOOD: Optically stabilized, wide-angle, long zoom lens; comfortable shooting design; voice annotation; time-lapse mode. THE BAD: Poor noise handling above ISO 200; no raw support; relatively slow performance. THE BOTTOM LINE: One of the better 18x megazooms, nevertheless you should consider the Nikon Coolpix P80s sluggish performance before you commit to it.

Nikon Coolpix P80
The Nikon P80 is a very serviceable long-zoom camera, with good color and image quality and an 18x stabilized zoom lens that's competitive optically with others in its class. It has a powerful flash, so would be a good choice for shooting subjects at night at greater distances than most cameras could reach. It's also excellent macro shooter, able to photograph objects only a centimeter in front...

Nikon Coolpix P80
The Nikon Coolpix P80 has stirred up some mixed feelings inside of me. It is a camera that seems to have everything going for it and seems remarkably interesting. Besides that, it is the new Megazoom camera of the Nikon brand continuing the successful Coolpix 8xxx series. However, it just doesn't hit the spot. And therefore you can't shoot that all-round with the camera the way you would want to.

Nikon Coolpix P80 Review
The Nikon Coolpix P80 represents Nikon’s first attempt at a super-zoom compact camera, with its 18x lens offering a focal range of 27-485mm. Whilst not quite as wide or long as the 20x Olympus SP-570 UZ that we reviewed on Monday, nevertheless the Nikon P80 should be able to handle almost everything that you throw at it. Nikon have included their VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilisation...
