Strengths: VERY EASY TO USE and VERY EASY TO GET YOUR IMAGES TO THE PC. You don't even have to connect the camera, though you can if you want.

Weakness: None worth mentioning

I've actually been using the CD250 and then recently the model shown above. If you want a camera that is easy and comfortable to use and hold, writes directly to a cd (156MB or higher), doesn't require expensive media and doesn't need to be connected to the pc to get your pictures then give this unit a good hard look. I ordered a slew of these for my employer and everyone that has seen and used them, never goes back to the stick based cameras. I recently borrowed one and used the macro feature to take VERY detailed product photos. I then turned around and shot some video of my son. This realy is an awesome camera.

Strengths: Ease of use, LOVE being able to pop the CD in our computer.

Weakness: none so far

I've researched and shopped around quite a bit for our new camera. I really liked the Sony Mavicas before when they used the floppy discs, now this is even better. I haven't gotten around to checking out all the features yet, but so far this camera has everything we were looking for and more. The pictures are great (3.2 megapixels is plenty good for our needs).

Strengths: Sharp Pictures, easy download, Adaptability.Focus control

Weakness: have to set camera down it itialize/finalize, cannot do it while walking.Only takes seconds, but still.... not all stores carry the discs needed so order ahead or pick up with camera.

this is my first digital camera. WOW! What photos! And the ability to quickly review to see if you got the shot. YES i love it. I was overwhelmed when I saw the instruction booklet, but took one task at a time and carried camera everwhere practicing. The sunrises, that before with my regular camera was just a light in the sky, NOW you can feel the breeze that moves the clouds.
made it great for taking closeup pics for ebay too...
gotta go my camera is calling....deer out on the snow....ok, now if they just turn a little...bye

Strengths: Storage (Burns direct to mini-CD), feature-heavy for an inexpensive camera, big LCD display

Weakness: Takes several seconds to write to CD, Bulky/Heavy for this level of camera

The #1 reason to by this camera is the ability to write to a mini-CD. It's a fantastic feature that always seems to wow the average person when they see me swap cds or ask me about the camera. It allows you to have have nearly unlimited space for pictures, and instantly creates an archive of your photos. Mini-CDs are so cheap (about 40 cents) that you can swap CDs for every occasion without feeling the need to fill them all the way. I bought a spindle of 50 and box of cases for them and I haven't used them all in 9 months of owning the camera.

Weight:
This camera takes quality pictures, but not professional or anything close, meaning its practical for the average user. However, it has the weight of a much more expensive camera, which makes it less a little less practical for holding carrying around to places. You can't exactly stuff this one in your pocket.

Load/Save:
When taking pictures, the save delay is several seconds, which on occasion has been annoying, but usually not an issue. The same is true for viewing pictures after you take them. Several seconds to load, even if you're looking at a photo that you didn't just snap.

Other than that, I have been very happy with the camera. It has a ton of features for adjusting photos that have been useful. I'd recommend this camera if there is a benefit for you in having the Mini-CD option. For me, it allows me to snap photos when I travel (long trips) and email or post them at virtually any computer with an internet hookup, without need for cables, software, or the right port.

Sony's CD350 is the "little brother" of the CD500, with a 3 megapixel CCD and fewer bells and whistles, but the same unique CD-based image storage and a lower price.
