Overall good camera

Strengths: Great pictures, great detail, great colors

Weakness: Lens error, its true, it comes up so be prepared as you may also get it. Also, it takes long to charge the flash so if the pic of your life is suddenly in front of you, you may miss it

Before making a trip to China and Japan I made a reasonable amount of research on this item and decided to buy it in spite of the "lens error" notice. Well, two days after I started using it that message appeared, but turning it off and on was enough to move on.

The quality of the pictures is to my perception really good. I don't think I need to search for anything else in this area. In terms of speed, it is not as fast as I expected (shutter speed) and charging the flash is also a slow process; however, once you get to know the camera you just get used to it and act accordingly.

Video is very good, better than my Sony Handycam digital video(using a Pro Duo card), but once you start the video you can not zoom in or out

One thing is that now I am getting too frequently an error on files but apparently it is due to the SD Card (I bought a very cheap 2 GB card). When I used its internal memory (very small BTW, just 8MB) instead of the card the problem was gone

Regarding battery life, I usually charged every two other days, taking many pictures and videos, and yes, you need to carry the base to charge it. One thing here, I have noticed several reviews for downloading pics. My preferred way is just to take out the SD card and plug it into my lap-top. I haven't even installed the software CD as I just find it so easy to download pics this way. If you don't have one SD reader integrated to your lap-top or desk-top then less than $25 will solve that issue for you.

One note on the SD card, get a good quality one and ensure it is a fast one. Notice that in the video mode this camera has a writting speed of around 11MB/second or so (please double-check this number); therefore your SD card must be capable of saving data at least at this same rate

Finally, there is a good amount of "modes" and user settings so if you want something to play this can provide you with some fun.

Solution for Charging Batteries WITHOUT the CRADLE

Strengths: LCD size, Auto modes + Aperture priority, Shutter Priority, & Full Manual control. Includes OPTICAL viewfinder. Excellent build quality.

Weakness: None

My sixth digital camera in 10 years... I have always bought Sony but gave this CASIO a try. A fabulous camera for all the reasons others have stated. One of the last that still offers an OPTICAL viewfinder. Do not upgrade to a newer model CASIO, they are now over simplified and do not offer the flexibility and creative control that you get only with the Exilim 750. Find it and buy it. It's worth it.

* AS NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THIS SOLUTION, LET ME SHARE THIS:

There is no need to lug the cradle around (vacationing, etc.) in order to recharge the battery! Don't risk breaking the cradle, it's expensive to replace. Leave it home! For about $15 on Ebay you can purchase a non-OEM battery WITH a portable charger. You will have a spare battery always at the ready, just think how convenient that will be! And to re-charge the battery you simply remove it from the camera and pop it into the battery charger. The charger comes with 2 plugs, one for the wall outlet, one for your car! It's small, slim, packs easily into your purse or pocket. Buy one, you will be very glad you did.

Be careful of the Lens Error

Strengths: easy to use, good pictures, great feature set

Weakness: lens error problems

I researched and researched before buying this camera. I was impressed by all the good reviews of the features of this camera, but at the same time a little worried about the 'lens error' problems some people were having (search on Casio lens error). I went ahead and bought the camera from Digital Foto Club in hopes that I would get one without the 'lens error' problem. No such luck. Within two days of receiving it, the lens error started happening. I don't believe mine was caused by having the camera in a case and inadvertantly hitting the ON button because I was simply switching between taking movies and pictures when it happened the first time.

I'm going to exchange mine and hope that I get a "good one" this time. If not, I'll have to find something else which is disappointing because I really like the camera otherwise.

Purchased a EX-750, April 05. Started getting "lens error" almost a year later. Returned it for service. Used the camera 3 or 4 times since service replaced lens assembly when "lens error" started appearing again. Returned to Casio service and received a letter stating the repair charge would be $ 135.
Great camera but unfortunately the quality is severely lacking.

Feature packed 7.2 MP Digicam

Strengths: small size, solid metalic feel and finish, lots of features, movie mode at 30 FPS, long battery life, large 2.5" LCD, "live" histogram

Weakness: weak flash, LCD could be higher resolution (more pixels)

I owned a Canon G3 before this camera. That camera is huge compared to this pocket sized Casio. I decided to switch to a pocket size mainly so that I can always carry my camera with me. It was harder to carry the G3 around. With the Z750, I can carry it in my pocket easily and know that I can take a photo anytime anywhere.

All my previous cameras prior to this were Canons (I've had 4 total). I was considering the Canon SD500, but after doing a lot of research, I decided on the Casio. They are almost identical in size and resolution but I liked this camera more because of the bigger 2.5" LCD screen, excellent battery life, 30 fps movie mode at 640x480, and lots of features like "best scene" mode (preselected shooting situations), a (limited) MANUAL mode, and a "live" histogram. The colors are very accurate and photos are sharp.

There is also the ability to resize photos in your camera! So why do that? You can take a hi-res 7 MP photo and then have the camera resize it to a "web friendly" 640x480. The original is NOT touched - it makes a smaller sized copy for you. You can then email or upload the smaller sized photo. This is nice feature if you are on vacation and do not have a pc or laptop to do any sizing.

Some of the weaknesses I found were: 1) FLASH not too powerful (this is true for almost all pocket sized camers though). To get around this limitation, I used a CAMERABRIGHT accessory (www.camerabright.com) to brighten subjects and help focus in low light situations. 2) High Noise level at ISO 200 and more so at ISO 400. Again all other pocket cams have this limitation. 3) "Burst/continuous mode" only takes about 1 fps - Hardly a burst speed. To me these are not "show stoppers" and I'm sure future generation digicams will improve on these.

Overall, I love this camera! I always carry with me wherever I go. I've captured great photos and made great prints - even larger sized. Highly recommended.

A pocket camera for people who appreciate photography

Strengths: Excellent battery life. Size. fast and responsive both in playback and record modes

Weakness: Images are slightly noisy

Casio is addressing the lens error problem. As mentioned in another review, its best to set camera so it does not start using the record or playback button, this limits the chance for an accedental lens expansion when the camera is in the case. Also, there is a small battery charger available on the casio site that you can plug into the wall that will charge the battery, no need to take the cradle on vacation.
camera starts fast, takes great photos, and also takes great videos. For videos I copy files to my PC, use Movie Joiner to join all of the files, then use CuCosoft to convert the file to DVD, and then use Nero to actually burn the DVD. Result is an excellent quality DVD. No longer need to haul the Vidoe camera on vacation anymore! This is a great little camera. Also has Image stablization as one of the best shot modes. My camera has taken hundreds of pics & no lens error yet.

Casio Exilim EX-Z750 7.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Smallest 7+ megapixel camera on the market, great photo quality, ultra compact, MPEG-4 movie capture offering great compression and full video at 640x480 30fps. Manual mode is a plus.

Weakness: Flash could be better but the range is expected in this size camera. Red eye can be a problem in some situations but is easily correctable with software.

This is my first Casio camera ever. I feel that Casio has truly stepped up the bar by offering more features than any of their competition. I love the size of this camera, the 7 megapixel resolution, and excellent mpeg-4 movie mode. I compared this with the Canon SD500 and the Casio won in just about every area. I highly recommend this camera.

EX-Z750 Excellent Buy

Strengths: Battery life, size, picture quality, versatility

Weakness: Over saturated color in prints, possibly resolved by firmware update

My Oly Camedia had excellent photo quality, but it was big enough that I missed pictures because I left it home. On the other hand, I would have been torn about which one to tote if I got a low end pocket camera, and in the case of my 35 mm cameras I often found myself packing BOTH for a vacation. The Z750 wasn't cheap but it really solves both problems (size/quality).
Get a FAST, big memory card (yes, some cards are faster than others even if the same "size") - mine is an SD 512MB) and get a screen protector, a clear plastic stick on sheet, for your screen, or it will be scratched immediately. I got an extra battery but it really hasn't been necessary, even on my trip to Ireland whe I ndid not take the dock because I did not want to risk using electrical converters. The battery lasts forever.
I recently downloaded firmware that is rumored to correct the oversaturation of color in the prints - I had to do that manually with PhotoShop or on my Epson RX 600 printer before. At first i wished I'd bought the Cannon SD series, but now I think this camera is perfect.

Casio Exilim EX-Z750 7.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Size!!!!, Ease of use, extra features for advanced user, HUGE LCD, Fast picture taking, fast startup, sleek design, great pictures, easy to take movies, Best Shot feature allows for multiple settings.

Weakness: None but two flaws. See below

I am pleased with the zoom but I was expecting more but 3x Opt Zoom pretty standard for this class. However, with 7.2mp makes enlarging easy. The dock that the camera sits on doesn't feel real stable. Once camera is on right it is ok but sometimes getting it on right is difficult. I had a Kodak Camera before and was probably spoiled. Also, I wish they would have included plugs into the camera for USB and AV outs. In its current form, you have to take the dock everywhere with you. I would much rather be able to transfer pictures with just plugging in the USB cord as opposed to putting it on the dock. This makes it difficult to use in two places (work and home).

I am not a very advanced camera user yet so I haven't learned how to use the special features to manipulate pictures. But the extra picture settings that allow you to change the way the pictures are taken are cool. You can choose from black and white, rustic look, pastel color, and many more. It allows even the novice user to act advanced. It also has a cool calender mode that allows you to search for pictures by what day you took them on. Battery life also seems to be really good. I had it out all night showing everyone all the pictures I had taken that day and it wasn't losing battery life. I was expecting it to drain the battery with the huge LCD but now. Pretty awesome.

Overall this camera is everything I wanted and more. I was really debating the issue for some time going back in forth between cameras but ultimately I decided on Casio as a brand. It came down to the 750 and the 57. I chose the 750 because I wanted the 7.2 Megapixel camera. What can I say? I am a guy. I need bigger numbers. Thats why I bought a 1GB SD card as well. The smaller one would have worked fine probably but hey, I would have always wondered about the bigger and better one. In conclusion, I knew that I could resell this camera after I bought it and not take a huge hit, if I didn't like it. But I do. It is a wonderful camera. It is small enough to fit into any pocket. It seems pretty durable also. Buy this camera. You won't regret it.

Compared to Pro700, this model does not have the Canon lense and TIFF format. But the movie shoot looks better than Pro700 in resolution. For a novice user, the size of the body and LCD, the build of the case, the ease of use and the quality of 7mp resolution are the reasons for me to purchase this camera.

Docking or not docking - that is the question.

I find that the old fashion style with a USB cable and having to pull out the batteries and insert them in to a battery charger every day, is obsolete and old fashioned, and is quite iritating.

Remember - the docking cradle charges the batteries too ! For a Canon camera, you have to bring along the battery charger anyway, so whats the difference. The docking cradle is as small as a package of cigerattes !

Apart from this, the Z750 has:
- MPEG4 video
- Best shot in video mode
- Auto macro
- Digital zoom while videoing
- Tons of features
- And - docking cradle

I am thinking about buying this camera ... but, it is the z750 ability to shoot Manual , the ONLY one at this size and 7.2mp WOW I have been waiting for this.
Just wish it had Flash Compensation and stronger Flash ... Maybe the next version.

Casio- Wonderful Camera--- Terrible Company

Strengths: Extremely user friendly. Quick action. Many pre-set shooting modes and the ability to create your own.

Weakness: Very Poor zoom. The digital zoom is virtually unusable. Built-in problem: LENS ERROR. There is a defect in the camera that the company does not admit.

When it works- it is a trmendous camera. But heaven help you if you get a LENS ERROR. You will be on hold for hours before talikng to someone. You will send the camera back and be without it for 2 months (and still waiting); you will be told
that the company has not been experiencing any problems like this; and you will be told that they are not going to repair your camera with factory new parts- only reconditioned parts will be used. We bought 2 of these at the same time. One has never been returned from service and the other has intermittent LENS ERROR problems, but I am too afraid to send it to be fixed.

If Casio does not provide you with satisfactory customer service, why not let PC World make the contact on your behalf, given the excellent evaluation they have given this camera?

Would seem to me, PC World would be interested if this Casio model has a build-in DOA flaw.

Get a Good Leather Case

Strengths: Everything indicated in reviews by others

Weakness: Extremely delicate LCD screen; Power button too easy to be pressed accidentally while in a carrying case, causing lense motor to run and thus damage the mechanism.

The LCD screen is only protected by a thin layer of plastic and the glass panel inside is extremely thin - making this 2.5 inch LCD screen very easy to be damaged from even the slightest contact with sharp objects. Repair cost: $272.00, warranty does NOT cover it. You might as well buy a new camera, perhaps a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M2 for that matter.

Also, the Power Button is designed in such a way that even if you put it in a carrying case you could accidentally press it and activate the camera. The first thing the camera does then is to try to extend the telescopic lens, and since the camera is inside a carrying case, the lens has no room to extend, thus damaging the motor and mechanism. This is probably the reason why some users complained about having "lens error" massages. Again, warranty does not cover it.

Solution: get a really good hard shell leather case as soon as you purchase the camera (mine is ESC-58BK); and make sure that the "Power Button" and any other buttons CANNOT be pressed from the outside of the carrying case.

This is an excellent camera and is definitely worth getting - if you can be careful enough while using it. I hope that Casio can correct the above design errors and make even better cameras in the future. In my opinion, durability is sometimes more important than features. What is the point of making an extremely durable metal body such as the EX-Z750 and at the same time putting on such a fragile LCD screen? How much extra would a piece of thick tampered glass measuring only 2.5 inch cost Casio?

Casio Exilim EX-Z750 7.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Very small and fits nicely into my pocket. Very fast start up time. Focusses incredibly quickly. Easy to use and very fast to adjust ISO, white balance etc using the EX button

Weakness: For the size of the camera and price there are no weaknesses.

I traded in my Nikon D70 D-SLR, kit lens and 70-300 lens for this Casio. I do not regret it one bit. My D70 and lenses were gathering dust because it was too big and heavy to take anywhere. When you go on holiday you do not really want to be carrying a heavy bag full of lenses and camera. I decided I wanted a camera I could take anywhere.

The Casio powers on and focusses almost as quickly as the D70. The difference for me in terms of photo quality between the D70 and the Casio is minimal. But I am no expert photographer.

This camera is very easy to use and the settings are really intuitive. I have not needed to refer to the manual once. The great thing about this camera is that you can just pull out this camera and take a photo very quickly. With the D70 you need to worry about the lens cap and getting it out of your bag etc. Also, when taking a photo with the D70 you draw a bit too much attention to yourself but with the Casio 750 it is much more discreet. This is invaluable for my needs.

I would not hesitate to recommend this camera.

i have a Nikon 8008S and an N90 as well as the awesome 70-300 lens that i feel i just can't live without. i can't imagine your trading in your Nikon for this little Casio. Using it in addition to sounds much more reasonable to me. Also, (-8 i chuckle at your reasons for being discreet! And perhaps it is exactly that which has won you over! Good luck!

Greatest compact digital camera

Strengths: very small, very impressive battery life, good image quality, good movie mode, good manual options

Weakness: focusing noise when shooting movie

I owned five digital cameras so far, and certianly casio z750 is the best. The battery life is very impressive. Last time I took about 2G pictures, and the consumption of energy is only half of a battery! That's amazing! And the manual options are friendly to use. The movie mode is even better! My friend can't believe that I shoot all movie clips by such a small camera! But it sometimes has machenical noise when shoot a movie , while trying to focus at the same time.

Mine has Lens Error once, because I accidently block the lens popping out. I turned it off and tried to open again, the problem was gone, and never happen again.

Hi! I think you gave the review for the wrong camara model, the Z850, does have that problem. In trying to replace my wonderful EX-Z750 digital camara because the lens had broke, I bought a z850, thinking that would be an upgrade... well, I was wrong! First I thought the camara was defective and that is why when shooting a movie it make that awful sound. You don't hear it until you actually play the movie in your pc. So I returned it and got another one. SAME PROBLEM!!! Additionally, the video quality was very poor and the pictures were not as great as I was used to (multiple reviews are now available complaining about the same problem) . I research and tried other models and brands, but nothing came close to my casio ex-Z750. I ended up sending my camara for repair and got it back just a few days later. I AM HAPPY NOW... I have my EX-Z750 back!!! I love it! By the way, I am sorry you are now stuck with that camara... why didn't you return it? I sure did! Nobody should have to be stuck with a lemon, especially at that price.

Beware the fragile (and costly repair) to the LCD

Strengths: Very nice handling camera, quick, good photos, tons of user-adjustable settings and scene modes, nice photos, but ... see weaknesses

Weakness: LCD failed within a week; Casio up to now has asked $272.95 to repair this flaw, which is not uncommon.

I received my Casio Exilim Z750 four weeks ago today.

In the six days I shot pictures with the camera, I was impressed by its features and apparent quality; the battery life was impressive, and the photos (with saturation and sharpness settings turned down a bit) were very good indeed. Very impressive for a small, pocketable camera.

Exactly one week after receiving the camera, I discovered that its LCD screen had "cracked" overnight, rendering the LCD unusable.

Going to forums on the web, I saw that others have had the same problem; Casio blames the customer and refuses to repair the unit under warranty. Since my camera's screen died overnight while sitting on a table in the dark at normal household temperature, humidity and pressure, I refuse to believe that my handling or mishandling of the camera is to blame.

Apparently the LCD screens are back-ordered for a month in any case (which suggests that Casio are replacing a lot more of them than they'd anticipated) and despite sending in my Z750 three weeks ago for (hopefully) warranty repair I have heard nothing from Casio since. I am hopeful that they'll do the right thing and fix it for free, but am not optimistic given the forum messages I've read.

So, be warned: the camera is lovely, but you may have to throw it away after a week.

I have rated the camera Completely unsatisfactory, because it doesn't work. I have owned many (mostly Nikon and Canon) digicams and have never ever had this kind of problem.

Me too!!! I used the camera for about 3 weeks, then suddenly, the LCD was almost all white. When I took it back to Samy's Camera, they told me I'd broken it (which I hadn't, although it did have a crack in the LCD), and Casio is demanding $273 to fix it. I'm afraid to invest ANOTHER $273 and then have it break again. Casio ought to be ashamed of themselves. I'll never buy another one of their products!

my story has a happier follow-up than yours: after about five weeks, I received my repaired unit fron Casio, they'd fixed it under warranty. In the two weeks I've had it back, it's worked fine. I'm hoping that the new LCD holds up, as the rest of the camera is a pleasure to use. Perhaps you could contact Casio again, they might be willing to perform the repair under warranty if you ask nicely. Good luck to you.

Same here. Beautiful pictures and nice camera... while it lasted. I sent in camera for warrantee repair when lcd failed. Casio refused to repair under warrantee, and then wouldn't repair in a timely manner. After holding onto it for 3 months (!!!) they finally returned it unrepaired (in the interim they charged my credit card for a repair they never performed). I will not buy Casio again.

My Z750 is the best camera in terms of functionality, but it is also the most fragile camera. The camera started reporting 'lens error' problems intermittently after 8 months, and the LCD screen dies completely a few weeks later. I contacted Casio Service department but they refused to repair it until warranty, and the cost for repairing is roughly the same as that of a new camera. So be warned. In my case, I had another choice, which is to repair it myself. This reduced the cost to half that of the camera. If you are interested in how to do this, I have detailed it at http://www.ok2life.com/welcome/index/35.html. Don't try this at home though if you have a weak stomach.

Well, what can I say... me too. lens error almost everytime I try and zoom, and yes my LCD screen has gone sleepies. Casio, no thank you, I'm off to buy a P3 Nikon, or Olympus, or some other CAMERA made by a CAMERA manufacturer, not a calculator maker.

One of the smallest 7MP cameras around

Strengths: Small. Big LCD. Great Movie Mode. Long Battery Life. Optical View Finder.

Weakness: Lens Error Message every so often. Optical View Finder is not accurate.

This is a great camera overall. But it has one problem that bugs me.

Photo Quality:
The picture quality is great when view on a computer monitor. Colors are very saturated, which seems to please the typical viewer.
Construction:
Great solid metal construction. My only complaint is that the lens seems to have "gear-meshing" issues: Very so often I will get "LENS ERROR" message when turning on the camera and the camera lens will immediately retract, turning off the camera by itself automatically! Also, the "LENS ERROR" message will appear every so often when zooming all the way out.
Battery Life:
Great battery life:
I took over 200 picures with one charge using the original Casio Battery supplied.
(PS. I bought a non-Casio battery as a spare but that one did not last as long: Only around 160 pictures with the non-Casio branded battery)

I'm giving it 3 Stars only because of the LENS ERROR problems I've been having: The camera will NOT focus correctly and the only way is to reset the camera multiple times and later review the pictures each time to ensure the camera is back to "normal". If CASIO fixes the LENS ERROR message, I think this would be a 4 Star cameara.

Wonderful camera - one of the best!

Strengths: Super-small size, lightweight, stylish, excellent & large screen, many picture & video modes, great picture quality, high resolution pics, records good movies

Weakness: Need to use dock to charge, little on-board memory, optical viewfinder wastes space

This camera is certainly one of the best available. The pictures that it takes are very good and even large prints are sharp. The screen is vivid and pleasing to the eyes. The many Best Shot modes included enhance the pictures and video that it takes. There is also a variety of manual controls. The movie mode is great because the quality is decent and file sizes are reasonable. The EX-Z750 is nice combination of function and form and is right for both casual and serious users.

I like it!

Strengths: Convenient, small size, battery life, good interface

Weakness: audio pickup on video recording has some noise

This is the camera I've been looking for. It's tiny, the menus are well organized and easy to use, and the video recording works well. The only complaints I have are that you can only zoom digitally (not optically) during video recording andthe audio quality on the video isn't great. But considering the tiny size and the awesome resolution for stills, I'm very pleased.

Excellent value

Strengths: Small Size, large LCD display, Easy controls

Weakness: Display covers such a large area of camera that it is difficult to avoid smudging

A friend introduced me to this camera and I was immediately impressed by it's small size and large display. The display allows me to view my subject matter easily and frame an excellent image. I don't even need my glasses!! There is also an alternative viewfinder that comes in handy when the lighting conditions are such that the picture on the display is difficult to see. It took some time to become familiar with the controls, but once I knew just where to look, it was a breeze to use. I like the ease with which I can view a shot after it's been recorded and then delete it if I'm not satisfied. I do lots of nature photography, and the detail I am able to capture in my pictures is very satisfying. I love the fact that this camera has so many features, a high pixel count and it's still only the size of a credit card....very convenient.

Useful features of Casio Exilim EX-Z750; limitations

Strengths: Very fast start-up and shot-to-shot speed "Time machine" - video goes back 5 seconds Keystoning correction

Weakness: Macro focus limited; slow burst mode, especially at highest resolution

This camera starts up and focuses faster than any other digital I've owned or tried. Also, the shot-to-shot times are extremely quick. The video mode has an interesting feature: It records the previous 5 seconds of whatever it was aimed at before you pushed the shutter release (essentially caching the action at all times). Therefore, you can aim at a subject, and when some action of interest occurs, you hit the button, rather than endlessly recording waiting for something to happen.
One feature that I will find very useful is the keystoning correction. Keystoning is the convergence of vertical parallel lines if one shoots from a high or low angle. Since I often shoot the screen during PowerPoint presentations in a conference and sit in the audience below the screen, being able to "square up" the pictures of the slides will be helpful, especially if I need to reproduce them in a report.
The main limitations of this camera (for me) are a rather wimpy macro mode, focusing only to about 10 cm (while other compact P&S digital cameras often focus as close at 2-5 cm). Also, the burst mode is rather slow and limited in the number of shots, especially at the maximum resolution of 7 megapixels.
Overall, I am highly satisfied with this camera -- excellent size, EASY menus and controls, lots of exposure options, and of course, excellent pictures. Casio has put out a real winner here.

Casio EX-Z750

Strengths: Small, large 2.5" LCD, 7.2MP resolution, excelent MPEG movie mode, excellent photo quality, comes with camera dock

Weakness: Weak flash, LCD screen doesn't have enough pixels, redeye

The EX-Z750 is Casio's answer to ultracompacts such as the Canon SD500/SD550. The camera is extremely small, but packs a lot of features.

The large 2.5" LCD is immediately noticable. While I love the size, I don't like the resolution - only 115,000 pixels on a 2.5" screen isn't very good. You can definately see the pixels on this screen, it just doesn't have the "smoothness" that I like to see.

The flash unit is small and close to the lens, like most ultracompacts. Flash range is only about 8-9 feet, a few feet below the Canon SD series. Redeye is a problem, as you'd expect due to the proximity of the flash to the lens.

Picture quality is overall excellent. Images are sharp and contrasty. The 7.2 megapixel resolution leaves lots of room for cropping. As some have noted, images do sometimes come out looking a little overprocessed, although a recent firmware update has greatly reduced this problem. Still, you may have to low contrast, saturation, and/or sharpness settings in certain cases.

One of the best features of this camera - actually the reason I kept it over the Canon SD500 - is the movie mode. The MPEG movie mode is simply fantastic - quality is excellent, and file sizes are reasonable. You can record 25+ minutes of video on a 1GB SD card depending on the quality you set. I could only get about 10 minutes of video on the same SD card with the Canon SD500. The SD500 uses the MJPEG codec, which is slightly higher quality, but produces huge files. Interestingly enough, I find the EX-Z750 takes far superior low light movies - the SD500 low light movies are very grainy.

This camera is loaded with manual features, which is a second reason I picked it over the SD500. Shutter priority, aperature priority, and full manual modes are all available, giving you a tremendous amount of control over the final image.

Overall, this is a great camera. The MPEG movie mode, full manual controls, and compact size make it a formidable competitor to the Canon SD series.

Casio Exilim EX-Z750 7.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: small size, large screen, great battery life

Weakness: it had sme problems reading the meomory card, at first hard to manage all the menus

what can i say... its small, cute and with a huge screen. it can be hard at times to hold with just one hand but that isn't so much of a problem, another thing which i consider a con is that you need to hook it up to its base in order to access the files via USB, a direct usb connection would have been nice. battery life is very good. cons... lets see price, 398 for me, maneuvering all the menus and finding answers in the enclosed guide can be hard at times, but all in all its a great camera.

Casio Exilim EX-Z750 7.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: small, light. easy to use.

Weakness: none so far

I really love this camera. Fits in my pocket (so small it actually got lost in my pocket). Pictures are good. Battery seems to last and last. Worked very well for me in night shots (city lights). Large display is good, and is viewable in most light. This camera has it all if you are looking for a small pocket camera.

Why i chose this little wonder

Strengths: Size, speed, image quality, features, movie mode, LCD, enjoyment, macro mode (even though it's 10cm, it doesnt seem it), battery life (haven't run out of bettery yet!)

Weakness: Small viewfinder - inaccurate. Although i must say at least it's got one. It's much better then missing a great shot when the light is too bright for the LCD monitor.

Well i thought i owed the web a review as over the last few months I've been reading reviews about all different kinds of digital cameras, from all different kinds of people; they certainly helped when it came to my final decision! This is how i made my choice. I started off looking for a digital SLR, i thought "If your gunna save up for a decent digital camera go all the way" I really wanted something of high quality, full of features and that would last me a long time. Surprisingly it wasn't long before i crossed digital SLRs off my list, firstly the price of them was painfull! The camera itself was very expensive and then you need to get all the lenses which would probably cost you more than the camera! And you still need money for the memory card and other accessories! The size was also a real turn off. I thought about it allot and decided i really wanted something i could bring with me everywhere, both for quality arty pictures of landscapes and weird angles but also to bring around with my friends to party's and concerts. A SLR really didn't fit the bill. Anyway i ended up spending hours behind the computer reading which cameras appealed to me and then spending even longer reading reviews about them. Compacts started to really appeal to me, the bit more expensive range really looked like top quality products and produced top quality pictures from some examples i viewed; and of course there was the great advantage of their size. I was very impressed by the Canon IXUS series. Particularly the Ixus 55. Firstly it was a Canon, so i thought to myself 'of course I'll be impressed' although slowly i started to be put off, it wasn't that it was a bad camera or anything it just lacked a 'wow' factor, something which really stood out and set it apart. I also felt that i would be spending too much for what i was getting. So i started my search again, and under 'Steves Digicams' I first came across this little wonder! I really wasn't very convinced about the make although looking at what it had to offer certainly impressed me! Firstly it had 30 scene modes and manual mode! I thought you could only get manual mode on much larger cameras, i was very impressed. I also read many reviews about it's great battery life and unnoticeable shutter lag. All the negatives of a compact seemed to be crossed out by this camera. It did still have the 3x and tiny inaccurate viewfinder but it's pretty hard to find a compact which has these features or you'll start sacrificing size. To get to the point i was very impressed and found that Casio really did offer top quality digital cameras which were worth the money. This camera was exactly the same price as the Ixus 55 and i felt it had ALLOT more to offer.
I finally got the camera a few days ago. I hadn't seen it yet as I'd only seen it from pictures on the Internet. I was very impressed with the design, i absolutely love the size! It's got a massive LCD screen which I'm very happy with. I don't know where to start about the camera and it's features, i don't want to bore you with the facts as I'm sure you can read this in professional reviews and specifications. For myself I've really enjoyed messing around with the 'best shot' modes, it really gives you a whole new dimension in creativity. I haven't completely worked out the manual mode yet although i love the fact i have the availability to use this as well, which I'm sure i will in the future. The 7.2 Mega Pixels are also very handy as you can crop your images to the perfect fit without worrying about loosing noticeable image quality. I've been using the 5 MP setting to save memory card space and the photos are still outstanding and massive! From what I've taken (200 pictures or so) I'm incredibly impressed - and these are all indoor ones as it's been terrible weather since i got the camera (the outdoor ones are supposed to be better, so cant wait to try them out). I've been using the macro allot, and was quite worried as it only has a 10cm macro although wasn't let down at all. I've got some brilliant macro pictures and got allot closer to my subjects then i thought i would. The few pictures I've taken outdoors have all been night shots, they came out very well - much better then i thought. Using the 'cross' mode gives you brilliant effect, just took a few shots on this mode of my rainy dark street, they came out very well indeed. The movie mode is fantastic, i didn't think i would use it much but it's so much fun and really is unbelievable quality. I feel that I'm going on for too long now, although theres still so much more to say about this camera. I just want to finish strongly recommending it, i really would say it's the best camera out there for it's size. I showed some of my friends it the other day and they were seriously impressed, already 2 of them want to get it for themselves! Good luck in your search, this should defiantly be one you should look into!

The Exilim is Excellent

Strengths: speed of from start to first picture; compact size; good quality photos

Weakness: manual is quite lengthy

from it's arrival, i have been very satisfied with this product. it is an incredible improvement over my prior digital camera (a panasonic) in terms of portability, quality and speed from powering on to taking the first picture as well as time between pictures. the video is also of decent quality. i wouldn't have thought usually of buying a casio camera, but i am glad i took the chance on it. no problems to report so far.

Atrocious Customer Service at the Repair Center

Strengths: The camera's not bad and I love the pre-video feature.

Weakness: Customer service is horrendous. Do NOT even THINK about purchasing from CASIO if you ever plan on using your warranty

I have had such a miserable interaction with Casio's repair team. They do not respect their customers nor do they apologize for their mistakes. I sent them my camera over a month ago since my shutter broke. They fixed it in one day and proceeded to send it to the wrong city. Multiple phone calls later on my part, never theirs, they promise me they will overnight my camera. Never happens. I call again and they promise to overnight it. Never happens. I call again, same thing. It has been 3 weeks now of hearing their promises that turn into lies. I just want my camera back - all they do is send you a refurbished one anyway. I have called, emailed, faxed, etc. They do not allow you to talk to a supervisor or manager. They do not read your emails, even if they respond to them. I sent an entire email, beginning with my job number, to the repair center going into detail again about the situation with my camera, ending with me being frustrated with customer service and never intending on buying their products again. The email I get back? "Hi, I saw that you called asking for your job number, so I just wanted to be sure you were helped with that. Bye" What??? Of course I have my job number - that was in the first line. They didn't even READ my email or even allude anything in my email. It was UNBELIEVABLE.

Today I called again, and I have been so frustrated and feeling so hopeless, I was starting to cry as I explained to them again about the situation and what terrible service I have received, when the customer service agent, Nabeel, outright laughed at me, mocking my concerns. They are unbelievable. I never have had such bad service even through not-so-reputable companies!

Needless to say, I will NEVER purchase from Casio again, and neither will any of my colleagues that I have explained in detail my unfortunate course of events!

DO NOT BUY CASIO PRODUCTS IF YOU EVER EXPECT TO UTILIZE YOUR WARRANTY. THE REPAIR CENTER IN NEW JERSEY DOES NOT CARE IF THEY DO THEIR JOB WELL OR AT ALL.

Sorry to go on about this, but I STILL have not received my camera, and I am at a loss of what to do or who to contact. Please, DO NOT PURCHASE!

I believe your review does not make justice to this camera, this, since your review is based on your bad experience with the repair camera place and NOT with the camera itself. I don't believe your bad experience should be reason enough to deprive people from buying this wonderful camera, the EX-Z750. I also had to send mine for repair to due to a broken lense (to the same place probably, as i believe is the only one that repairs casio) and I had no problems with them whatsoever. On the contrary, I was amazed at how fast I got it back. So fast that I was able to return the other casio camera model I had bought before the 14 days were up.

Casio EX-Z750 Macintosh compatability

I bought this camera because I previously owned a casio exilim and loved it. All of the new features the EX-Z750 had to offer got me interested and the great photo quality reviews I read had me sold. As soon as I opened the camera I began taking some video and was excited to view it on my Mac. I am operating on a Powermac G5 which recognizes the camera and imports still shots quickly and easily to iphoto. I assumed importing the video to imovie would be just as easy, I was wrong. Although the computer seems to recognize the camera, it will not import the video. Does anyone know why? I don't understand how I am reading reviews about the video performance of this camera on Macworld when you can't even import and edit the video from the camera. Please help.

Hello Autohog. I found that friends using a Mac could not view my videos! I had no idea why. Then, on the Casio Box itself, I found a notice that states the videos cannot be viewed on MAC. Read the box carefully, it's in small print and not too easy to find. But I assure you, it is there. (sorry!)

Love it

Strengths: HUGE LCD, excellent quality, size.

Weakness: It takes too long for the flash.

I really love this camera. I use it for concerts, etc and I really get great quality in really low lighting.

I haven't had any of the error messages previous reviewers have had. Maybe they fixed it?

Good, but not great

Strengths: MPEG4 movie mode, compact, fast, okay software.

Weakness: lack optical stablization, weak flash, need higher resolution and anti-glare LCD screen.

I have a love-hate relationship with this camera.

Pro:
small, well built, good resolution, great movide mode (MPEG4 consumes little space yet produce great movies with sound @ 30fps), fast start-up, decent software.

Con:
difficult to take pictures without some bluriness due to hand shaking. The built-in digital anti-shake is just merely lower the resolution and tune up the ISO speed. Optical stablization would make this camera great. The flash is bit weak, has short distance. Also, the LCD screen is big, but lacking in resolution count and anti-glare.

So, I love it when it works well and I really miss it when I need that tripod to make those clear shots. If Casio can improve upon those weak points, I will buy it in a heartbeat!

Quality and simplicity

Strengths: High-quality pictures, many cool features, small/compact design, large LCD screen.

Weakness: Lense and LCD are a little fragile. Small glitch

I did research before buying this camera and found many good reviews. I was even more impressed after receiving it. It lived up to the hype. I tested its many features, and was thoroughly pleased. This digital camera makes taking quality pictures easy. It's loaded with features that give you control over how you want your photos. Excellent for travel. Awesome quality pictures for a competitive price.
Unfortunately, there has been a rare glitch that causes some trouble. At times the camera freezes and I have to take the battery out. I don't know what may trigger it, so if anyone has suggestions please let me know.

casio ex-z750

Strengths: Size, megapixel, relative ease of operation.

Weakness: lens error, blurry pics from time to time

Overall all this is a great camera for a novice like myself. Capable of taking great pictures, tweaking them, and not having to spend a great deal of time tinkering with the camera to get them. However, I would like to think that $350 to $400 dollars is a relativley decent amount of money to spend on a camera, to not get the "lens error" message as much as I do. I have lost a countless number of shots due to this problem, and the camera has been cased since it's purchase.
I have found that pressing the picture review button, (the one shaped like an arrow) first, kind of bypasses the lens error problem. Definately not a fix rather a quick solution to the problem.

Fast camera - good pictures & movies

Strengths: Size Speed Battery life Movie quality/compression

Weakness: Noisy night shots. Movies are only Windows compatible.

The power up speed is truly impressive. There is also virtually no shutter lag, so this is a great camera to quickly take a picture.

The battery life is also great, you can take hundreds of pictures before needing a charge.

Compared to my old Canon Powershot G2, picture quality is great except for night shots. You can see a lot of noise.

Movies look great and are well compressed (compared to other cameras - a full quality 1 minute movie "only" takes 30MB), but the codec only works on the latest versions of Windows Media player as far as I can tell.

Tiny and stylish, the Casio Exilim EX-Z750 is packed with features. But with its its 7.2-megapixel CCD and very fast shutter response it's also an impressive performer.
