Excellent Camera

Strengths: Great zoom & picture quality. Very easy to learn & use.

Weakness: I've not noticed any weaknesses

One of if not the best product on the market. This camera is so easy to use, no wonder they call it easy share. It seems the more I use it the better it gets.

Great Camera

Strengths: Outstanding image quality, great interface

Weakness: That bleeping green light, occasional blurry images, computer software is bloated

Wonderful pictures from this camera...worth every penny. I don't like that bright green light...people look at you when you're trying to take candids. The software it comes with is bloated as well...use a card reader.

Excellent Camera Very Easy to Use

Strengths: Photo quality is excellent. The zoom is outrageous! It is also very easy to use. I could use every function of this camera with ease within just a few hours of playing around with it.

Weakness: The more you zoom in on something, the steadier your hand will need to be, but that's what they make tripods for right?

This is by far the best camera I have ever owned or used. I'm not a professional but with a little more practice I think I could take "professional" pictures every time.

Pristine

Strengths: Easy to use. Great features. Excellent zoom! Small & light. Takes great pictures! Cheap compared to others with such features.

Weakness: Haven't found any with the camera yet. I am not impressed with the Easy Share software.

I bought this camera to replace my Kodak 290 which I have had for 5 years with great results. That camera (which was top of the line when I bought it) is heavy, and has no manual controls. I stuck with the Kodak because of the good performance history with my old one. I considered the Olympus but the price was comsiderably more. I paid $252.00 at BuyDig.com, and shipping was free!I also purchased the easy share dock, which, if you have other photo programs, really is a convenience, but not necessary. Transfer via a supplied USB wire is just as fast. The software does not allow you to transfer photos from the "Easy Share" program to your other photo programs( at least not without considerable effort. All in all, I think the Camera was a great buy and would highly recommend it to both beginners and more advanced users.

Excellent camera matched with a...

Strengths: Excellent Picture Quality, Lots of features, Ease of use, interchangable lenses and filters that you can add on, Great zoom, manual & automatic settings a ++, great price, Highly recommended.

Weakness: Hard to focus on subjects Far away i shake to much. Long distant night shots dont come out too well but then again most digital cameras I have used are not great either

Excellent camera matched with a great price, many features, super easy to use(do not need the instruction manual to start operating it. I love the fact that I can put on UV filters etc and a telephoto & wide angle lens. Night shots from a far distant are not to great but every digital camera I used has the same problem. Trying to focus on something far away you need to have a steady hand or something to prop in on then again i have had those problems with other cameras. Focus is good I guess the people that complain do not know what they are doing. As long as you hold the button to take a picture half way and wait it will focus. Picture quality is superb. There are easier point and shoot cameras to use but so is this one you just need to get some practices due to the features and you will be taking pictures like a pro. Good camera for a beginner who wants to have a more professional camera but can not afford it. If you expect every picture you take to automatically come out perfect well forget about it. We would not need professionals if that was the case.

A user-friendly camera with incredible features!

Strengths: 10x Optical Zoom; Easy to hold steady; Numerous scene features with User-friendly menu options; 5MP resolution; great motion video quality for digital camera; Continuous burst feature

Weakness: Focus not as crisp on some distance shots; Auto flash doesn't always get right lighting

This has been a great addition for our family. The 10x Optical Zoom is very useful for those distance shots, and even the 4x digital zoom takes a great pictures as well. Sometimes digital zooms diminish the quality of some cameras, but not this one! The camera is easy to steady (use the viewfinder, plus it saves battery power) for those shots you need stillness on, plus has an action photo scene feature to capture those in motion shots. The burst feature works well (you can hold up to 15 seconds, which the camera then saves either the last 4 pictures, or the first 5 depending on what burst feature you use), and the scene options are easy to understand (There are 4 on the dial wheel and then another 14 others you can set, with an easy explanation right on the screen on each of its uses). The motion video records in *.mov files, and the quality and audio are EXCELLENT! Very crisp audio on the movies I recorded. The only drawback so far I've seen is that the autofocus misses the mark on longer distance shots, but usually can be solved by setting the camera to "landscape" view. This is an incredible camera for the price, and quite honestly was just as good as the competition in the $500 range with the same resolution. Did I mention it was 5MP? You can't beat this camera for the features and the price!

Pruiett

Strengths: Easy to use in all phases. Great quality pics.

Weakness: Auto flash not strong enough for long distance inside or dark area. Either an adapter so you can install a better flash or a bigger auto flash. Seems the auto flash is to far from the front.

Great price on a very good camera. Only downfall is they are cheaper now than when I bought mine. Haven't tried the easy share with the docking station yet, but the transfer of the pics from the camera and card are really simple to use.

Great camera for everyone

Strengths: The camera has a nice sized screen for veiwing the intended photo, as well as, a nice wide grip to hold unit firmly. The addition of the adapter for extra lens help the novice shoot like a pro.

Weakness: The flash is a little weak in really dark areas, and the controls a little difficult to learn. However, with a little practice, they do become easier.

I got the camera along the the photo printer dock and lens adapters in a nice neat package. The printer dock is the neatest thing to watch work and the 4x6 photos are incredible! There was also a USB cale to hook the camera up directly to my laptop when I'm on the road traveling. Kodak has produced a real nice camera with the Z740!

Z740--Best value, fantastic photos, easy to use!

Strengths: Easy to use; beginner friendly; price is right; zoom is fantastic-- 10x optical zoom!

Weakness: not compact for a purse or a pocket

Overall, I am thrilled with this camera! I am a novice when it comes to picture taking, and it didn't take me long to figure out all of the settings that come with the camera. They are easy to understand and use. Because of all of these options, my pictures are actually better than they were with my old Kyocera camera. I bought the camera from Buydigs.com, and received it within 3 days of ordering...no shipping charges or tax!
It has a cool feature that 'tells' you where your optimal zoom zone is, before you take a photo. Once you've passed it, it indicates you're in a 'red zone', and therefore have probably 'zoomed' too far in to produce a quality picture.
I was not impressed with the EasyShare software, and immediately uninstalled it (it messed some things up on my computer), but it isn't necessary at all.

Kodak really improves quality on this product

Strengths: 1. Easy to use. 2. big zoom. 3. good qulity of picture

Weakness: 1. no rechargable battery 2. LCD is not good

Kodak really improves quality on this product. Its picture quality is really good, comparable of Japanese main brand digital camera. Although it is 10x zoom, it is not heavy at all and it is very compact and much smaller than it's looked like.

Great Camera!

Strengths: Optical Zoom

Weakness: Macro zooming

This is a fantastic camera! My husband wants one now! So on the first, we are going to get one for him. Imagine - his & hers digitals...now that's America! We love this camera sooooo much. I had to have it before Christmas because it has 1 hour of video on top of all of the photos it takes with the memory card. You definitely need a good video card. But, this camera is fantastic! Not too bulky, fits the hand nicely. It looks big, but it really isn't. Great deal for the money. Buy it!

Amazing Camera!

Strengths: Optical zoom, pictures at night or in dark settings, multiple modes to ensure the best picture!

Weakness: Bulky, doesn't fit in my purse

I bought the Z740 to replace my DX6340 that I had grown sick of. I wanted a camera that had a lot of optical zoom because I know that is one of the most important features to look for when purchasing a digital camera. I researched for a while and the Z740 seemed to be the best pick for the price. The camera has tons of features, many which I have never and will never use. It is ideal for a basic user and I'm sure more advanced photographers would be pleased with the camera as well. On a non-important note: the camera makes really cool sounds!! When taking a picture at night or in the dark, the camera shines a green light out that leaves people in awe! If you buy this camera, your friends will be jealous and the camera looks like it costs a lot more than it really does. I have been very pleased with the picture quality...MUCH better than the DX6340!

Awsome Camera!

Strengths: Camera is ready for next picture very fast; Its so easy to use the different scene modes and they really make a difference.

Weakness: I wish it would stay on standby longer

I love this camera; the quality of the pictures are great. It such a easy to use camera. And, if zoom is important, this one has it. I can't say enough on how happy I am.

Kodak EasyShare Z740

Strengths: - Light - Sleek - 10x optical zoom - Reasonable price for 5MP

Weakness: - Lack image stabilizer - Fixed LCD

Overall, I satisfied with this camera. I used both Panasonic FZ20 and Canon S1 IS and found they were too bulky to carry around. I ended up keeping these good camera at home most of the time. For the main reasons of purchasing this Z740 is due to the form factor and price. This Kodak fit my needs.

Nice Images - Bad Viewfinder

Strengths: Images were crisp and clear. Limited red-eye.

Weakness: Does not have a true optical view finder.

We liked the images that this camera took. We hated the view finder... looks like a video game, with some strange colors. Picture you see in finder is different than what is actually taken. The finder is different than the LCD.

Kodak Z740

Strengths: Cant say enough about this camera, had a Z700 stolen off me, it was 6 years old 4MP and it out performed most new cams, I decided to find the Z740 as its replacement, Perfect!

Weakness: Not one

great pictures, great close ups, great quality, I cant say enough about it, I would take this older camera any day over a new one in its price range. This camera gives you pro shots at a beginers level, and if you step it up and know what your doing with the scene settings...forgetta about it, you got some quality pics, 4/27/12 and im not givin it upRaffaele

Camera is great and easy to use

Strengths: Can start using this camera without a manual, and my kids have a cheaper priced Kodak for their 1st camera. I would recommend this camera for anyone.

Weakness: The distance part is difficult, but then so are many other cameras I have had that are not digital.

I like the fact I can bring in this camera, turn off the automatic light, and take pictures in say a museum. I did that, but I did learn that you have to hold down the shutter to be able to receive the full light when taking a picture. I have had to use other software to copy pictures onto a CD, but I have the current version and have not used it yet to copy any CDs. I have used the software to send pictures, very easy to use! Love this camera! This is my 2nd one I have purchased. Would buy this one again!!!!

Buy a different one

Strengths: Good zoom,

Weakness: bulky, Without flash, pictures come out blurry 90% of the time, small LCD screen,

Great camera if you know how to use it...All the features seem really interesting, but they are useless. All you need is the auto feature. The kodak easyshare software is not that good.
