Can't beat the real thing

Strengths: + Can trust the quality of Canon + Small, compact + Works with external charger

Weakness: - A little pricey

With cameras like the PowerShot SD550, you want to make sure you have an extra battery on hand. (You don't have the benefit of popping into a drugstore and buying AAs of the shelf.) Although pricier than generic replacements, you always know this Canon battery will be charged and ready to go. Can easily get about 160 pictures out of one charge, with LCD on.

It's right for my SD550

Strengths: small, light, rechargable

Weakness: not powerful as expected

I bought a Canon SD550 and this battery as my spare battery. This is exactly the same battery as included in the camera package. It works fine as a spare one. I have used it for a few days and feels that I can only take about 80-100 pictures for one charge.

Have tried of brand batteries...

Strengths: Small, Can take over 300 pictures on one charge.

Weakness: Price.

Have tried of brand batteries before without to much luck. Bought this battery form Canon. Really satisfied with the preformance. Can take over 300 pictures on one charge. Bought it for a Canon SD500.

I got about 160 pictures before I had to charge the battery. This was with the LCD on and I also shot a couple 30 second videos. If you want to get more out of your battery you can turn off the LCD and use the optical viewfinder and get approximately 550 shots. Personally, I never use the optical viewfinder. The battery takes around 100 minutes to charge fully. I bought this genuine battery as a backup for my Canon SD500. Works great and my only complaint is that it's somewhat expensive.
