Way better than the Sony T9 and Casio EX-S500
Strengths: Picture quality is great...I was able to take picture in the dark and the flash is powerful for such a compact camera. The features in this camera are like any other sony cameras, but at half the price. This battery is a lot better than my otherSony DSC-T
Weakness: Could be a little bit sturdier
Did much research prior to my purchase. Was looking at either the Sony DSC-P200 or the Canon SD450 then realized the new Sony cameras were coming out soon so I decided to wait a couple weeks and am glad I did! The DSC-W50 just came out and it is a tremendous little camera! It blows away the SD450 in image quality and ease of use, plus it's quite a bit cheaper has more megapixels and shoots great...

Nice Smart Camera for a good price
Strengths: Very Good Indoor Pictures, Long Battery Life, Good LCD with a shield which I always wanted, Nice looks, High ISO Sensitivity
Weakness: Does not have a very nice grip which I found in Nikon cameras. Zoom is only 3x
Overall a very nice camera. I am very satisfied with the camera. It is one of the best cameras (probably the best) in this price range. Got this for $255 after tax from BrandSmart. LCD is quite big and still battery life is good. 6 MP so nothing to mention about the picture quality.Takes very good videos as well. Did not find any other camera which takes such good pictures in the Indoors. The...

Very Happy with my DSC-W50
Strengths: Compact size (pocketable), fast boot up, optical viewfinder, good low light focus, strong flash, easy to use.
Weakness: The zoom is almost too fast - it's hard to stop at intermediate positions. Also, the camera software was not compatible with my Windows 98 computer (time to get a new one, I guess).
This is the 4th digital camera I have purchased. I was looking for a pocketable camera to supplement my Fuji S602 which takes great pictures but is too bulky to carry around all the time. All of the strengths I've listed above where the main features I was looking for in a new camera. The only concession I made was not being able to use AA batteries. The W-50 uses an expensive ($50) Sony battery,...

Room for improvement
Strengths: Controls are nearly perfect Fast wake-up Optical viewfinder Single cable for usb and video Excellent indoor flash photos
Weakness: Harshness in outdoor direct sunlight photos Camera cannot stop action, poor for photos of moving objects
As with some other ultracompacts, exposure settings are completely automatic. There is no scene mode or aperture priority setting to increase shutter speed. Thus photos of people or objects in motion are blurred. In photos where, for example, foliage is in direct sunlight, the photos will amplify reflections and show harsh white hot spots. The burst mode is slow, much slower than the Canon SD600....

Excellent performance and value -point-and-shoot
Strengths: Compact, attractive, easy to use, excellent quality photos, long battery life, fast response.
Weakness: LCD screen is VERY fragile. You drop it, and a cracked LCD screen will result. The price for a new screen is $100, just for the part.
Easy to use, great performance, long battery life. I highly recommend this camera. The only drawback is its ruggedness. I bought a second one after dropping my first one the first day I had it. The LCD cracked, and it costs more (you drop it, its your problem) to fix than buying a new one. I will repair it myself for the price of new screen ($100). Be very careful, and DO NOT DROP! Put a stick-on...
