I bought my backup from B&H photo on the Internet, after seeing their listing on PriceGrabber. It arrived quickly and is an original Panasonic battery at prices closer to generic.

A must have accessory for owners of Lumix TZ3 cameras.

I am an owner of a Lumix TZ3 camera. When I purchased my camera I was offered the opportunity to buy an extra battery and I said I didn't need it. However soon after I got my camera I came to realize that I would regret not having an extra battery on that special moment during a trip or a family event when you suddently run out of battery. Special events and circumstances won't wait until one recharges the battery.....so that is why I decided to purchase an extra battery. The battery is identical to the one that came with the camera. It has the same capacity....looks the same, performs the same way. As far as I know Panasonic doesn't offer a large capacity battery for the Lumix TZ3, so if one wants to buy an extra battery that is made by Panasonic there is little choice. You might be wondering why I purchased a Panasonic original battery instead of buying a clone/compatible battery from an auction site, where you can get them for about 1/5 the price of this orignal battery. To me it was a no brainer. I am not willing to risk my safety and the safety of my family, and equipment to save a few dollars. Non-branded batteries have proven to be more dangerous than original batteries, and often explode....breaking down your expensive equipment and possibly causing a fire. That type of risk is unacceptable to me compared to the extra cost. What is a few extra bucks compared to your safety and that of your expensive equipment?

The battery was Panasonic brand, not generic, unlike some stores sell. The product was reasonably priced. It arrived in a timely manner. I would do business with DGB again.

This battery is a genuine Panasonic product intended for safe and effective use in their cameras (in my case a TZ3). You may hear that the cells for generics are often made in the same factories as the brand name batteries, and that may be true in some cases. However there's more to a battery than just the cells, and the rejects have to go somewhere. I chose a genuine Panasonic battery to ensure safety and compatibility with my camera and to ensure my warranty would remain in place if something were to go wrong with the battery. I just didn't want to take the chance. Now maybe if your trustworthy uncle were in the generic battery business, you'd have better information about generics, but for a few extra bucks, why risk it?

Panasonic CGAS007A1B Li-ION battery for Panasonic DMC-TZ3

Strengths: BRAND Name..not Generic. Solidly made + comes with a protective case.

Weakness: NONE so far.

I bought this battery as a backup for my TZ3. The battery is well made,and comes with a little protective case to prevent the terminals from being damaged.It lasts a long time before recharging is needed. In my opinion, It's best to stick with an OEM battery,as opposed to the generic brands. You pay a little more,but who wants to chance a battery failure on a high priced vacation?
