Small, yet versitile!
Strengths: Compact. Comes with extra battery. Charges two batteries at once (one in camera, one in dock). Remote to view pics on TV!
Weakness: None.
This charger/dock does exactly what it says, nothing more, nothing less. It would have been very cool if they could have included a photo printer in with this as well, but you can't have it all :)

Strengths: Product Performs Well and is extremely useful
Weakness: the need for the product as no tv output on camera
I bought hpr707 camera as highly recommended and the price for the camera and buying the dock was initially annoying b/c the extra expanse but a battery is included and on pricegrabber that plus the enhanced features it offers pays off. I would recommend to get with the camera.

HP docking stations for digital cameras
Strengths: A remote control and extra battery are included.
Weakness: One more remote laying around, more cords, and stuff that I don't want laying around.
I think its unfortunate that HP basically FORCES you to buy this dock just to view pictures on a TV. Most other mfg's allow you to plug directly into the camera, and straight to a TV, no silly/stupid dock to buy. HP misleads consumers saying this will work, but it didn't. I had to call HP only to find out I needed a special adapter. Sure HP sent it to me at no charge, but my point is it was an...

BE AWARE THE hp R817 DOES NOT WORK WITH THE R-SERIES DOCK!!!
Strengths: Comes with additional battery, charges two batteries at a time.
Weakness: More cables, pieces you need to pack when traveling or using the camera above battery/memory card use.
BE AWARE THE hp R817 DOES NOT WORK WITH THE R-SERIES DOCK!!! The airline (NorthWest) i flew last time lost my bag (and does not refund anything execept dirty underwear if i provide a receipt) and with the bag i lost the original docking station for the HP R817. So i had to repurchase a docking station which i bought over pricegrabber-link from Compuvest. The docking station was about $11 plus...

HP Photosmart R-series dock
Strengths: Price. This item retails for over $75.00. The "Tech-for-less" price of 19.00 is a fantastic deal.
Weakness: It will not work with the R817/R818 camera without an adapter that is not supplied in the packaging.
I called the HP 800 number and I now have the R817/R818 adapter being sent to me and at no charge. The HP Photosmart R-series dock is well worth the price.
