This is a miniature infrared transmitter. It operates at ranges up to 16 ft. and may be set for either instant release or 2 second delay. The RC-1 may also be used to activate mirror lock and bulb shutter functions. Compatible with EOS Digital Rebel XTi, Rebel XT, Digital Rebel, ELAN 7 series, Rebel T2, Ti, and K2.

Strengths: small, effective, easy to use
Weakness: short range
I bought this remote about 2 months ago & I use it every time I use a tripod. It works wonderfully when trying to capture a shot when camera shake is not an option. It comes with a strap that you can attach to the camera's neck strap, so that you always have it on hand. You do need to be close to the sensor on the camera, since it is a short range remote.
