That was a third type of battery I got for my Canon PowerShot S45. First was a Canon brand NB-2L battery that came with my camera, second a generic brand one, and finally this one - Canon NB-2LH. My advice is never buy a generic battery! I bought one together with my camera so I have always a spare battery on hand. I charged it as many times as original Canon battery and it lasted little longer...

This is the battery you need for backup
Strengths: This is the original Canon battery, not a off market replacement.
Weakness: none
If you need an extra battery for your camera, which you do, get the original battery not a cheap off brand. I couldn't find a better price anywhere and that was almost 50% off most retailers

The battery charges quickly and it is very light weigt. I have a canon XTi and this battery lasts quite long with one charge. i am usually ableto get 200 to 300 shots before it needs to be charged again.

This battery has a much longer life than the generic batteries. Even though the Canon brand batteries are more expensive than the generic ones, I noticed that the generic batteries charge "funny" with the Canon charger and last significantly shorter than the Canon batteries.
