Nice wide angle lens

Strengths: Nice lens, takes great wide angle pictures

Weakness: Very bulky, but this is to be expected

Overall, this is a very nice lens. It comes with its own lens bag and has caps for both front and back. Would be better if the front cap fit a bit more snugly since I'm afraid of it coming off in the bag. Besides that, no other problems.

Even though there are weaknesses...

Strengths: Canon quality lens; comes with a nice drawstring bag for protection. Pictures are defintely wider then with standard lens.

Weakness: Because of the size, auto focusing may not be possible. Also, built-in flash pictures WILL cast a shadow on the lower right of every photo (on my Canon Powershot G5), also due to the lens size.

Even though there are weaknesses as described, because of the versatility of my camera (Powershot G5) I am able to compensate for those issues. Switching to manual focusing should resolve that issue and if a flash is needed, I can attach one.

I love this lense. It makes taking...

Strengths: Works perfectly with the camera

Weakness: None.

I love this lense. It makes taking photos with my beloved Canon G3 even more fun. It comes especially handly when I tried to take some photos of a large waterfall with rainbow. The resulted picture looks terrific. It's huge, compared to the camera itself, but it does look cool.

Buyers Beware

Strengths: Can be used as a paper-weight.

Weakness: Major distortion. Mind boggling color shifts.

One dealer is selling an OEM lens on this sight. It is NOT made by Canon and based on my one use of this OEM lens, Canon would never sell a poor quality lens like the one I am stuck with. The distortion would only be acceptable from a Fish-eye lens. Even worse everything in the photo has a blue outline on one side and a yellow outline on the other- a major color shift. One dealer is selling an OEM lens on this sight. It is NOT made by Canon and based on my one use of this OEM lens, Canon would never sell a poor quality lens like the one I am stuck with. After only using the lens on one shoot, it has been retired as a very expensive paper weight. Beware of OEM lenses. It is a no name piece of junk! Why, oh Why is there not a rating lower than one star?

Weakness: Bulky, no filter threads, barrel distortion is increased.

I was quite surprised by how well this wide angle converter works. It's sharp and clear. The only negatives are it's size and the increased barrel distortion it introduces (curvature of vertical objects), although some barrel distortion is to be expected with a wide angle lens. If you want to increase your field of view with a Canon G3 - G6 digital camera, this wide angle converter fits the bill...
