Nice Camera

Strengths: Middle of the road...size wise..but gets the job done.

Weakness: zoom button...small.

Very nice camera...Middle of the road size wise but gets the job done...zoom button a little difficult to manipulate...but other than that no complaints here. Cant wait to try it out on Alaska trip :-) Check out my FB pics...more current ones of course. Let me know what you think.

G11 review

Strengths: Compact size, easy to carry and use. Very good automated exposure settings. Very even built in flash and control. Many settings, features and adjustments. Great build quality and ergonomics

Weakness: some settings a little obscure, until you are use to them. Camera is a touch on the heavy side.

I bought this camera about a month ago, and have been exceedingly pleased with the camera. Recently I was asked to photograph approximately 200 school childern, and found that the camera handled this task with ease. Because it was a fixed portrait setup, I used a tripod and set the camera to all auto settings. Beforehand, I had set the camera's programmable setting to handle such conditions as flourescent lighting, neutral density and exposure control compensation, in the end I found it unnecessary to use the programable setting, because the camera's auto settings handled everything. Because of the camera's weight, there was no camera shake, a plus when there many people surrounding the camera. By having almost two hundred similiar photos I was able to compare the histogram and noted very consistent exposure control, contrast, and control control (Raw histogam) - very little adjustment was needed, as all the flesh tones, back ground and light were spot on.
One battery lasted nearly six hours of continous shoting, although the flash was initiated about 10% of the time.
I originally thought about purchasing a Nikon D300 and then reconsidered the G11. I believe that this camera will fulfil the needs of most camera users for the vast majority of photography.

On another photo shoot, I test shot about sixty photos of a kitchen, in the middle of the night, and the majority of these photos used no flash, very good results, natural muted colours, no noise, and no artifacts.
