This is a nice little camera, its packed with features for a good price. I like the idea of not having to replace batteries, it comes with a lithium ion rechargable battery. My only complaint (a small one) is that I figured out that the name Olympus D630 ZOOM Digital Camera has the word ZOOM in it for a definite reason - the lens protrudes from the camera to achieve the zoom - not a big thing, but I didn't expect that. All in all, a good choice, though.

Olympus D-630 digital camera

Strengths: Small, 5.1MP, Lithium Ion Battery

Weakness: costly XD media

Not much to say about this camera other than it works as I expected and as the manufacturer described it. Only complaint is the costly XD media that it requires (costly compaired to other media cards on the market such as SD, Compact Flash, etc.). Good points are the 5.1MP and the Lithium Ion rechargeable battery (no more buying alkaline batteries for my camera!)

Camera works well for the money....

Strengths: Great picture quality, great in-camera features.

Weakness: Shutter delay, default to largest picture size.

Camera works well for the money. Have had no problems using new camera, as it is very easy to use. Internal battery keeps life very well and internal memory is very useful also. Would purchase this camera again.

I bought the D-630 for my wife to take on her trip to Italy. I own an Olympus C-5060WZ, and I am in love with that camera, so I thought I would stick with the Olympus brand for a new camera.

My wife needed something easy to use and compact for her trip, so the D-630 seemed like the obvious choice for us. Aside from the design and size of the camera, we were utterly disappointed. The color accuracy and saturation in most of the photos was terrible. The auto white balance evidently did not work well since most of the outdoor images had an awful blue tint to them. Noise was also a big problem.

My wife used the full auto mode throughout the trip, but I found that if you dip into the manual controls the results can improve a bit. If you're looking for a full automatic point-and-shoot, stay away from this one.

Weakness: required xD card format not as cheap and popular as others, and must be purchased separately. Lousy warranty on LCD screen, but all brands have lousy warranty.

The Camedia D-630 has intuitive, user friendly features that allow you to take pictures without much studying of the manual. It's my new ol' reliable.
