Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 Black Digital Camera

Strengths: Excellent pictures, easy to use. Surprisingly good video and sound. In the "Auto" mode it is difficult to mess up a shot.

Weakness: Built in flash does have limits. Too close and the flash over powers the subject. Too far and the flash is not strong enough. Shadow caused by the filter extender when flash is used.

Highly recommend. Have owned my LX5 for about 10 months now. I have been very pleased with the quality of pictures and movies as well as the ease to use. Captures great pictures, even in low light. The sound on the movies is excellent. Made a training video show how to perform a process under a Class 8 truck. The aperture was enough that the focus and light was great. Video turned out great,...

The Lumix DMC-LX5 is a high-end point-and-shoot camera, set to be released sometime in late 2010. As the successor to Panasonic’s DMC-LX3 from 2008, this model offers incremental optical zoom and sensor upgrades over its predecessor. The DMC-LX5 features a 10 megapixel CCD sensor, a 3.8x optical zoom and a 3-inch LCD display. While the image sensor and screen size are comparable to...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 Review

In the battle for supremacy raging between high-quality pocket digital cameras and high quality mirrorless digital cameras, only two cameras are already considered legendary, and only one of those still has an f/2.0 lens: the Panasonic LX5. Its small Leica-like body actually includes a Leica-branded lens, now with a longer zoom, and both its f/2 lens and its 10-megapixel sensor are tuned for...

DCRP Review: Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5

With their new Lumix DMC-LX5, Panasonic has improved the image quality, zoom power, image stabilizer, movie mode, and battery life of the LX3, while enhancing both the automatic and manual controls. The LX5's price tag is a bit high, but it's arguably one of those most capable compact cameras on the market. The DMC-LX5 isn't a perfect camera, by any means. Viewing its RAW images tells me that the...
