Camera malfunctioned within 5 months
The camera malfunctioned 5 months from purchase after minimal use, the lens retraction mechanism stopped working and the lens got stuck. There are numerous reports of this on the internet. A great disappointment from a Canon product.

Dont' by Canon, defective camera
Strengths: doesn't matter if the camera doesn't work
Weakness: shutter cover seizes the camera.
Shutter cover have closed. I looked on the internet and hundreds of people have this problem! I sent it in because canon concurred and said they'd fix for free. Then sent me an invoice for 170>00 for a "Cracked LCD" (that wasn't cracked when I sent it in) It's hard to defend a lie from a large company. Service on phone was like "Tough luck" Don't buy...

Great travel camera
I just returned from two weeks in Italy and left the DSLR at home in favor of this point and shoot. It far exceeded my expectations for low light shots inside the Vatican and other churches. The wide aperture can actually provide shallow depth of field. I
